Rediscovering Golem Overlord
I started to play the game Golem Overlord in the very early days but then regretted it quite quickly. I had invested a considerable sum to play the game and I just wanted to make sure that I got the money back as soon as possible. I don't really remember why I acted like that. Even if I don't remember the reason, the result was that instead of reinvesting into the game, I withdrew as many tokens from as possible to recoup my investment.
I did that until about 3 weeks back. Things changed when I took part in my first quest...
I really like to play these quests. It helps me to understand the game better, to improve my rank and also to get some nice NFT's on the way.
The Quests are a great way to learn about the game mechanics and to get motivated
There are several quests available and when you complete them, you get rewards that allow you to go further in the game. The great thing about doing these quests is that I actually started to understand much better a lot of the game mechanics. I understood what the NFT's were for and how I could actually increase my rank in the game.
Before doing the quests, I never attacked any player because I didn't really understand why I should do that. Each time I attacked, I just earned peanuts. I just saw that the bigger players were regularly stealing my tokens and it didn't make me happy. At the time, the game didn't pull me in enough to try to understand how I could get better at stealing tokens myself. Thanks to the quests, I learned that and I got much better at attacking other players. Some years back I tried to play drug wars and it was based on a similar principle and I didn't like it. With Golem Overlord, the mechanics are much better. The strong players tend to steal from the slightly less strong ones and the small players attack the ones that are in the same conditions than them. It's actually pretty well done.
In order to improve your ranking and to earn more tokens, you need to reinvest as much as possible into developing your account. I not only reinvest 100% of my income at the moment, I even bought some Part tokens on the market to progress faster. I'm now climbing the rank at quite a nice speed. What I like is the number of options that you have to develop your account. You can either concentrate on scavenging Parts by building as many Golems as possible. But then you also need to build your fortress against invaders. Or you can opt for an offensive strategy where your attacks bring you the main income. If you do that, you need to concentrate on developing your power but also your faith and your reputation because it will define how quickly your attack energy is refilled. It's really fun to play and the options available require a certain skill.
There is a lot to learn, especially when it comes to the usage of the NFT's. Going through the quests helps to understand them. When I finish my next mission, I will get a second amplifier and I'm already looking forward to improve it as much as possible to climb the ranking even faster...
With the Shard tokens that I earned, I bought some Crates. In one of the creates, I found a legendary NFT that now boosts my Shard income.
A big part of the supply is burnt
I also started to understand the tokenomics of the game and I quite like what I see. Of course it's an inflationary token but you will always need more tokens to get up and earn more. So a very big part of the daily minted supply is actually burnt. On some days more tokens are burnt that minted which I find pretty exceptional for such a game.
The statistics page that is available within the game, gives a good overview about how the supply of the tokens is evolving. It's nice to see that 97% of all minted Part tokens are actually burnt...
With all that has been added to the game, I would say that the game play is quite fun and interesting. There is a lot of talent behind this game and the coder behind this game is probably one of the most competent in the hive ecosystem.

Well, overall strategies I don't quite like an eat-or-to-be-eaten strategy. It's kinda big hit before but when I know that you need to do that. I'll just focus on another game and didn't join this game. !LOL

I usually don't like it that much either but since small players have little stack to steal from, bigger players steal from bigger fishes. You can only attack a limited amount of times, so each attack matters. It's actually pretty well done :-)
I've stopped playing GO for the time being, I've decided to focus more on zealy missions and now I'm only playing Terracore, dCrops and Splinterlands, while I've been doing one mission or another with Rising Star. I think I need to focus more on certain things, as my time is too short to invest in so many games, so all that's left is to reduce the time spent on each of them and focus on other things.

I agree that it's impossible to play all the games. I concentrate on the ones I have most fun playing. Lately I'm surprised to say that I have a lot of fun playing GO :-)

If I may ask, how much money do you think one can use to begin playing this game?
When I started, it cost around 30 hive to play the game but I don't know if it is still the same.
That’s quite cheap
Thank you very much
With my time available not being much at the moment I've decided to put idle games at the end of my to do list and I haven't played GO in several days.
Your post made me want to play it again to see what's new like the quests ;)

I really like the concept of the quests. They got me motivated to develop my account :-)
When we first start a game, it might not be very interesting, but circumstances can change later, right? I think that's what happened for you, man. I was thinking about playing this game for a while, but then I stopped playing it because I didn't have much time.
That's true. What I also appreciated is that the makers of the game added new aspects to it that actually brought more fun to it. I'm looking forward what they will implement next :-)

I skipped the game for various reasons and I still don't think I'll pick it up anytime soon. Work calls and I'm swamped! 😱... but that's a good thing too...
There is only so much time that we can dedicate to these games and we need to make some choices :-)
I have not heard about this game before but you are telling me that it is very interesting and we can earn some money by playing it so I will definitely start playing this game.
It's worth to give it a try :-)
Yeah.
Someone can still opt in to the game right?
Yes, it's still possible to join I believe

I love their quests too. I think I implemented the best strategy in this game, which includes both upgrading and taking profits. I use the earnings from 6 days to improve my account and the ones from the 7th day I consider profit and swap to HIVE.
In the past I tended to take too much profit and neglected the development of the account. Now I'm over compensating lol. I really like the quests; they are fun :-)
Golem Overlord is quite interesting and I think the quests do help the learning curve. Although I don't think it was that difficult to understand. They do need to help out those who first start, but it's a tough game. If you don't upgrade your defenses and focus on mining, you can get hit quite hard.
Yes there are many dimensions to the game that actually make it fun to play. Since they introduced the quests, I'm enjoying it quite a lot :-)

It's great to hear about your experience with Golem Overlord and how you've been able to learn more about the game mechanics through the quests.
It's impressive that you've reinvested 100% of your income and even bought Part tokens to progress faster.
It's also good to know that a big part of the daily minted supply is burnt, which helps to keep the tokenomics of the game in check. Keep up the good work, @achim03
