To reduce Crypto to its value in fiat is wrong. Crypto is relevant for our freedom !
Today while chatting in discord, my friend @mypathtofire shared a link to a speech by Erik Voorhees. It is a very good speech and I strongly encourage you to listen to it. Above all, however the speech reminded me why I got into crypto in the first place.
When others determine whether you are accepted or not
There was a time in my online career when I was trying to earn money in many ways. I joined many programs and there was always one big issue. How will I get paid? In the best case, the program would pay through paypal or one of the other similar services. It was always very complicated to get paid. Either you had issues with joining these services or then you needed to generate big amounts before a payout was even possible. In addition to that, you were never sure that you or the program owner wouldn't be kicked out. You might have generated a lot of money just to be informed that the program would stop existing because the owner was kicked out...
It's in this context that I stumbled upon crypto faucets and I was literally amazed that it was possible to send value to another wallet without any intermediary. I could send some sats to a guy in south America and at that time it wouldn't cost anything and it was very fast. This is what I had been waiting for and this is what Erik Voorhees calls permissionless transactions.
Do you realize that maybe a part from cash, it's virtually impossible to send money to somebody without a third party authorizing your transaction? Be it a bank, a card provider or even the authorities. In addition to that, these transactions are never free.
If you behave well, the permissions to get and send money will be given. But what if you breach a TOS without realizing it? Or, if you do something that others don't appreciate? This permission can be taken away and you end up without a possibility to get or to send money. Virtually, this could be a death sentence. If you can't buy any goods to survive anymore. What will you do?
Thanks to crypto, we have this alternative to be able to send and receive money without an intermediary and without permission from a third party. In my opinion, this is why we need crypto and why crypto isn't just resumed by it's value in fiat currency.
Hive the door to freedom
Among all the blockchains out there and I stumbled on many of them, I was stuck with Hive. Hive in my opinion embodies this liberty. Our names are our wallet addresses. We can send funds very easily, for free and within 3 seconds to the other side of the world. In addition to that, on Hive I can actually earn money and I even have a savings account that allows me to multiply my earned tokens.
Hive is not just a white paper with wonderful ideas on it. Hive works already and I can do almost everything that I want with my wallet. Not everything is perfect and we need to improve the tools around this chain. However, I believe that Hive is already a great way to transact without permission and in a manner that gives us a certain freedom and independece.
Let's connect ! You can find me on these platforms:
I changed countries and paypal shut me out of my account and I couldnt receive money from my customers. It was a nightmare. They wanted all sorts of information and data which was ridiculous. It is great we now have crypto and Hive sending transactions in 3 seconds, permissionless and at anytime is awesome! Glad you liked the link!
I know of a lot of instances where paypal kicked people out for little to now reason. It's a nightmare if you depend on such services and Hive is a great alternative. Thanks a lot for the link ;-)
Such a bad experience, it happened with one of my friends who was using Wise. His account got shutdown with out any reason.
Yeah, these companies are totally rogue sometimes.
Interesting sharing! Never thought of crypto from this perspective - maybe because we are all programmed to behave well. Haha.

(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoWell we should behave well but sometimes it's these services that change the rules and what was ok yesterday, suddenly isn't anymore...
That's true! :)
Firstly, that speech by Erik Voorhees was fantastic... If you play that video from ANY moment, you will receive a "life-important" message in the next 20-30 sec... You can literally play whatever moment of that video... So many great thoughts were shared with the audience...
Now imagine having a heavily centralized digital currency where someone can do exactly what you described, subjectively, with just one click of a mouse... Imagine that you don't have ANY other decentralized cryptocurrency... You are over... That's why it's important to HODL real value currencies, in our case BTC, or HIVE... They can literally save your life when we see the CBDCs launched...
I also see BTC and Hive as beacons of decentralisations and I wouldn't trust that many other networks to be permissionless.
I cannot even count how many people who became rich through cryptocurrency. We have a lot of them. Indeed, cryptocurrency gives freedom! I mean, freedom from poverty
To have freedom from powerty is one thing. The other thing is to have access to financial transactions. In many countries it's pretty difficult to get a bank account or a credit card. Nobody can prevent you from having a hive wallet and sending money to whomever you want...
Crypto is the future and will remain the future
I also believe so...
It sucks to be reliant on a platform and I have heard about quite a few stories in the news or Youtube about being kicked off the platform. I think Hive is great in that regards because that won't happen here.
Whenever we use a centralized service, we have to follow the rules of these platforms and even if we do our very best, it's possible that the rules change and that we get kicked out...
Completely agree!

Thanks for stopping by!
It's always a nightmare when these intermediaries kick us out of their network and we no longer have the permission to do transactions, I experienced it a few times, especially with PayPal. Great that now we have better alternatives that solve this problem to the roots, like Hive.
For each of us that one day have been kicked out from a centralised service, we realize how important it is to have a permissionless place where nobody can kick us out.
We also value it more, since we've experienced what it is like to be on the other side of that system.
Hive is the way <3 I love it's 3-sec free transaction. You can sent your money all around the world for free.
When you think that is pretty amazing and we tend to forget it :-)
