Let's Play "Final Fantasy VII" ECHO-S Mod: Mako Reactor 1's Mission
FFVII ECHO-S is a fan-made Mod that adds Full Voice Acting to Final Fantasy VII. It's part of 7th Heaven's Mod Pack which completely ovehauls the Final Fantasy VII experience. I wanted to play Modded FFVII for a while now, and I'm excited to play it with voice acting.
Mako Reactor 1 Mission
In this video, I play through the Mako Reator 1 Mission. The eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE led by Barret hires the mercenary Cloud in a mission to destroy the Mako Reactor that sucks the energy from the planet.
While playing ECHO-S Mod, I found it convenient that when the voice-line ends, the text is skipped by itself. I also noticed that you don't get to name characters anymore, which makes sense considering the voice-acted lines use their original names. I like how cloud says "Cloud Strief" when asked for his name. In the original he only gets to say "Cloud" if you keep his name.
The Mod also fixes some of the dialogue that was broken in the original game. While fighting the scorpion cloud says "Barret! Don't attack when its tail is up!" (The Mod corrects the original line by adding "Don't.") I laughes so hard because Cloud said that just before attacking himself and dying to the Scorpion's counter attack. I never thought I'd use a Phoenix Down this early in the game.
The quality of voice-acting is all over the place, but I LOVE the voice for Jessie, she's full of life and showcases a wide spectrum of emotion. The voice acting for Wedge is notable too, I think his voice actor enjoyed acting some of his lines! I believe the voice for Cloud and Barret is the same person, and if that's the case, he did an amazing job for making them sound completely different!
I enjoyed playing this level, and I hope to play through the full game from now on. For now, I hope you guys enjoyed the video, and until we meet again in another article.
