Lion Zealer - Illustration

avatar

This drawing is my second entry for the Artists Challenge on LeoFinance Zealy's Choose Your Own Adventure Campaign.

After Leo the Dragon Slayer this is the illustration that I drew for the other Rookie Challenge "Lion Zealer." This time I used my newly acquired app Clip Studio Paint:

The Challenge Prompt:

"Draw/Design/Create an image of a Lion interacting with the Leo Finance and the Zealy Logos."

My Process

1st Step - Concept

This part took the longest because I didn't have any idea to start with. At some point, I decided to draw a Lion in a relaxed pose and go from there. In this idea, the Lion is supposed to hold both Zealy and LeoFinance logos in his hands forepaws.

So, I quickly made a sketch on Clip Studio Paint...

2nd Step - Sketching and Inking

In my Digital Drawing style, I draw multiple layers of more detailed sketches, until I draw one I like then I start inking it. You'll see how improved this inked image is from the concept image above.

(I forgot to take screenshots in between. Haha.)

3rd Step - Adding Orbs to Hold

For the sake of the Prompt, I wanted the Lion to hold the logos, but found it more appropriate to make them Orb-like things. What do you think?

4th Step - Coloring

I picked up the colors from a few results from the Google Image Search: "Lion Cartoon." I'm still getting used to the Coloring Tools in Clip Studio Paint but the best thing is the "close gaps" feature while using the fill tool.

5th Step - Adding Logos

I realized the orbs aren't enough, so I decided to put the Logos in the background. At first I wanted to make them a repeating pattern, but since I needed two logos, I decided to put them beside each other and go from there.

6th Step - Creating a Context for the Logos

7th Step - Adding the Background

The final finishing touches!

I also colored orbs and Lion the eyes. Forgot to do so in the previous steps.

Here you go!

That concludes my drawing process for this art piece. My second entry to the Artists Challenge on LeoFinance Zealy's CYOA Campaign.

I didn't want to draw this at first. I wanted to start drawing the image for the next challenge "LPUD Participant" right away, but I wanted to accumulate the most points for the Zealy Campaign, so I had to draw both.

What do you think?

Please provide me with any feedback, whether it's about my art, formatting, if this is good enough quality for the intermediate challenge. Criticism is important for improvement, after all.

Finally, I mainly consider myself a Storyteller, secondary a Digital Artist. I really recommend you check my fictional works. Hopefully, you'll find one you like in my "Where to Start?" List.~~

I hope to meet you again in another post. (إن شاء الله)

Thanks for reading
