My Experience Playing Modded 'Final Fantasy VII' So Far...

I've been playing Final Fantasy VII with mods for the past month. I recorded my playthrough and uploaded it to 3Speak. I just finished playing through the first Disk content, so I think this is a good time to talk about my experience with the game and the mods I've chosen.

The main Mod for this playthrough is called ECHO-S. It's a huge mod that adds voice acting to all characters and NPCs game, (with varying quality.) It also adds Day/Night cycle as well as other small changes to the base game.

I love the voice acting of ECHO-S Mod. It's generally high quality for a Free non-profit project, but the quality is inconsistent. It's clear they gave higher priority for the big scenes of the game, as NPCs dialogue could use some work.

The game's music covers some of the lines, even emotional ones. I found myself wishing for a better sound design in more scenes than not. Still, I think the voice acting adds to the game despite its inconsistent quality.

Something you'll notice in my playthrough recording is how quickly the Day/Night cycle of the ECHO-S Mod changes the look of the game's environments. After a while, I wouldn't say I liked this feature but decided to keep it anyway for consistency purposes, and for the rare moments, it adds to the atmosphere.

The Day/Night feature resulted in nice cinematic moments such as when it gradually got darker as Barret and Dyne's argument got more intense. (It's the Part 19 of my playthrough.)
