Elon Musk, DOGE, and Stephen Miller -Trump's Chaos Agents

@DOGE - https://x.com/DOGE is the Department of Government Efficiency that is currently causing an uproar, as Musk's young tech experts rummage through antiquated Federal Government systems and bureaucratic structures. The Tweet from Musk had almost 20,000,000 views at the time of this post and is being widely reported in the morning news. Almost prophetically CNN published an article just an hour before Elon's Tweet -

Miller is helping to drive a maximalist immigration enforcement agenda, one he has spent much of his career designing. And he’s working closely with his ally, Elon Musk, on the billionaire’s Trump-blessed mission to shrink the size of the federal government and rid it of “deep state” bureaucrats.

Miller is now one of the most powerful people in government, with a direct line to Trump and – perhaps more importantly – a canny ability to translate Trump’s policy ideas into action.

Miller's is Trump's "Deputy Chief of Staff of Policy" a seemingly innocuous title. The combination of rapid-fire disruptive action, combined with Musk's vast platform, seems to be a challenger that Trump's opponents are unable to respond to in kind.

North Carolina and FEMA, and Trump

Elon Musk's statement will undoubtedly resonate in the corridors of the Legislative Building in Raliegh North Carolina this week. Finance and other Committees are meeting to determine how to pay for the recovery efforts for the damage wrought by Hurricane Helene. Western North Carolinians may experience disgust and outrage - rebuilding in the damaged areas is estimated to take another decade. FEMA's response efforts - specifically concerning its lackluster efforts to house displaced North Carolinians, as winter set in 2024, were widely criticized. The volume of criticism and rumor on social media was so intense that it became almost impossible to separate fact from fiction. The net result likely left an indelible perception that FEMA was a Federal Agency run amuck and decoupled from its primary mission of serving American citizens, impacted by disasters. This morning's accusation by Musk will do little to reverse that sentiment - and President Trump will likely leverage that anger to accelerate his near-term agenda of dramatically reducing and reshaping the Federal bureaucracy.
