HIve Power Up Day and July Performance

It's the first of the month, which means #HPUD Day !

I thought I'd also take the opportunity to use this post to look at my account performance over July.

HPUD Power Up

I powered up 20 HP this morning; less than previous months, but I'm trying to stretch my liquid HIVE as far as possible because I'm not sure when I'll have the fiat to buy some more.

HIVE Earnings in July

My total HIVE earnings for the month were 132, which converts to £22.43 at the month end price.

The actual HIVE value is better than I expected. I've had a bit of a poor month for posting, mainly because having too much going on in the real world has left me a bit creatively burned out. On the up-side, I've had a couple of posts which were good earners, which is nice. A cynical part of me thinks I should post in higher-earning communities more often, but the reality is that what I'm here for is to write as an escape from the pressures of day-to-day life, and the earnings (while nice) are a secondary factor for me.

An important thing is that even when I've felt too burned out to post, I've managed to maintain my curation rate, which is important as it shows support for my Hive friends and increases both my earnings and theirs !

HBD Earnings in July

My HBD earnings were an impressive 78.882, which is worth £60.82 at the month end HBD rate (nearly a dollar, lol), multiplied by the current USD to GBP exchange rate.

Sterling and the US Dollar seem to be holding steady against each other right now; I'm not sure if that's a reflection of the strength of the two economies, or if both are screwed and sinking at the same rate ! It's a shame we have to measure crypto's value against legacy fiat currencies, but Bitcoin is too volatile and too open to manipulation by legacy finance. Perhaps we should measure crypto values in relation to the price of gold.

67.346 of the HBD I gained were interest, because it included two batches of interest, on 1st and 31st of July. Being realistic, HBD interest is now the bulk of my earnings on Hive, so I'll definitely be buying more as soon as the exchange rate is better !

My summer has been much the same... embarked on a somewhat ambitious savings plan, and then a whole bunch of "unexpected life" happened and I had to steer in a different direction.

July ended up basically being an "off" month.

Well done on building a good HBD balance. That 20% interest is just about the best thing Hive has going for it, these days!

=^..^=

I was able to power up 12HP yesterday since I power up everyday
Also, I have not been taking note of my monthly earnings
I’d start to do that very soon

It's worth doing - it's a great help in tracking performance, so you can see what changes over time and spot any issues that need to be fixed. Plus it's nice to sometimes go back to the start of the data and look at baby-Hiver-me just to remind myself how far I've come 😁

It helps that Excel is one of my favourite toys....
