My Hive SaturdaySavers 2024 Growth Goals
Yes, it's that time of year where we all sit down, take stock of how we did in 2023 (a year that I suspect many of us would rather forget....), and work out what our plans are for 2024.
I've never been one to make New Years Resolutions (which are rarely kept anyway 😁), but being part of #SaturdaySavers throughout 2023 was really good for me. It kept me on track with relatively short-term goals, and the support of my fellow savers was invaluable at times where I wavered in my determination to hit the targets.

Being heavily data-driven, I've looked at what worked and what didn't in 2023, identified some areas where I need to improve and where some of my goals were waaay too ambitious, and cooked up a set of goals for 2024.
I've also refined the spreadsheet I use to make it more automated and easier to work with. So the next year one looks like this. Some of the numbers will look a little odd until I fill in the "Week 1" column. The columns for weeks 3 to 52 are hidden. The idea is to unhide new weeks as they come up and hide old weeks as they pass, so that just the current and one previous are shown.
Looking at each goal in turn;
Hive Power
I've been cautious with this one, and assumed that I'll average 75 HP increase per HPUD. I've also learned the lesson from last year, that HIVE prices can be unpredictable. So I'll only update the goal if I actually hit it during the year, not if it looks good from halfway along.
HBD
I'm being a lot more ambitious with HBD, despite missing the goal last year. I'm planning to DCA in each week, and will highlight the DCA target in green if I've done it (having done this week's today, that's already done for this week). The DCA amount reduces by 0.5 HBD a week, on the logic that the further into the future we go, the harder it is to predict how much I'll be able to afford to put in.
LEO
The LEO goal is based on the minimum needed to do LPUD every month of 2024. It's fairly cautious, and I'm probably giving LEO a slightly lower priority than I did last year.
EDS
I really like EDS as a project, delivering gains in all kinds of different way, even if bits of it are a bit too convoluted for my brain to be bothered to do the maths on !
The plan is to grow EDS primarily from delegation and mining earnings, so the main metrics I'll be tracking are the gain in EDS and the amount I'm delegating.
SBI
SBI's are a great way to give back to the community, so my plan here is to continue with the three different methods I've been running for most of 2023, supporting #SaturdaySavers, #BusyBees and writing prompts I post in the Worldbuilding community.
Posts
I'm trying to get better with posting, and I'm trying something different this year that (hopefully!) works better with my posting pattern. Rather than setting myself a monthly target, I'm setting an annual one equivalent to one post a day. I know I'll never be able to get the Hivebuzz Annual Author badge, but if I can average a post a day it should still be better than last year.
Comments
This is a new metric for me. I find it far too easy when I'm tired after a day of work to just surf through hitting the upvote button. Having a target for comments should help me change that by engaging in a more meaningful way. However, I know myself well enough to know that I won't be happy just making meaningless "good post" spam comments !
Reputation
For this year I'll just be tracking this rather than setting a goal. It's something I haven't done before, but just monitoring the numbers will spur my innate need to compete with myself, and should help me engage a bit more.
VESTS
Again, I'm just tracking VESTS as a kind of summary of overall progress. I doubt I'll ever get to Orca level unless I win the lottery, but it doesn't hurt to have a very long term goal !
So these are my #SaturdaySavers goals for 2024. I'm very much focusing on a couple of core goals, plus metrics that stop me getting lazy on the social engagement side. Just engaging more should help the underlying HP growth, but in a healthier, more organic kind of way.
If you are one of my Hive friends who hasn't looked at the Saturday Savers Club, I really do recommend it to you; it's a hugely supportive community, and a really fun way to build some discipline around saving and growing your Hive account.
Yeah, I just looked up where orca is in terms of HP and it seems to be somewhere around 56k HP and I thought ...unless something drastic changes maybe I'll hit orca at retirement age? LOL! But hey, you never know.
Good luck with your goals! !BEER

.To start with, I really like this spreadsheet layout - its easier to look down columns and across rows. So you are off to a great start already !!!
These are great goals - its nice to see what a difference 2023 made, and that you are now building on top of those, starting from some very nice stacks ! I'm already very impressed of your HBD pile - thats awesome - but how cool would 2.5K be ? That will give very nice monthly interest drops I would have thought.
Anyway, best of luck with these goals. I'm confident you will do great !
Keep on stacking

@alonicus! You Are Alive so I just staked 0.1 $ALIVE to your account on behalf of @ hoosie. (8/10)
The tip has been paid for by the We Are Alive Tribe through the earnings on @alive.chat, feel free to swing by our daily chat any time you want, plus you can win Hive Power (2x 50 HP) and Alive Power (2x 500 AP) delegations (4 weeks), and Ecency Points (4x 50 EP), in our chat every day.
Thank you ! Yep, the previous spreadsheet kind of grew organically, so I thought it would be a good idea to re-do from scratch to make it easier to read and use.
I've tried to balance the goals between straightforward financials, and trying to find things that'll keep me motivated on areas where I'm a bit weak - it'll be interesting to see how well it works after the initial wave of enthusiasm passes !
As for the HBD, 2500 should deliver around 30HBD a month in interest. Nowhere near a full-time income, but definitely starting to move out of side hustle territory. I can see a distinct possibility that I'll be earning more in HBD interest and rewards than in HP. I just hope the US Dollar doesn't devalue too much further....

Hello @alonicus. I didn't make any new year's resolution. Instead I just focused on what I wanted to accomplish slowly. It's good you stopped looking at reputation on Hive. I see you're getting more ambitious with HBD. That's good. I did the same last year and was able to save 565 HBD.
I like the EDS project also, so I jumped on the bandwagon for the new HBD backed EDS token, EDSD and bought a handful a few days ago.
I like the way you set out your goals. and how you mean to accomplish them. Good luck with your progress. Take care.
