Saturday Savers 2023 Progress Report Week 51

One week to go ! Welcome to my penultimate #SaturdaySavers update of 2023 😁

It'll be a short one, we've got family down for Christmas and it would be rude to them if I spent all day hunched over a computer making Hive posts....

Here's my last but one update table of the year;

What Kind of Wek Was It Last Week ?

I have to admit that last week passed in a bit of a blur. So many people seem to have left Christmas shopping until the last minute, so my life mostly consisted of getting orders picked, packed and posted, and answering endless "will this get to me by Christmas ?" queries.

But somehow I managed to post every day. I really thought I was up for a Hivebuzz weekly author reward until I wrote yesterday's post, was ready to hit the "Publish" button, then fell asleep at the keyboard and woke up at 5 minutes past midnight. D'oh !

Looking at my goals for the year, the only two I've missed are the two primary ones.

I'm short of my HP goal by 373HP, but since I upgraded the goal from 2500 to an almost unachievable (for me) one of 4750 part way through the year, I'm still counting it as a sort of win.

My HBD goal has totally failed, but again, that's one I updated from a 650 gain to a 900 gain, so I hit the original target. I've missed the current one by 134 HBD.

I've got enough liquid HIVE that I could probably hit one (or maybe even both) of those goals with it, but what I'll probably do is a really nice HPUD on 1st January. I might wait until the HIVE price is slightly better before pushing more into HBD. But there are two things pushing me to do it sooner. First is that the GBP USD exchange rate is very good right now, so I bought the LTC I turned into HIVE at a decent rate. Second is that I've spoken to my lovely and very understanding wife about actually putting more into HBD next year as it's still a better return on investment than anything we could get in a legacy bank savings account (part of a healthy marriage is being open with each other about what we do with our money !)

I'm normally very disorganised about saving, and the support of the wonderful people in #SaturdaySavers has been invaluable in keeping me focused. I can honestly say that without it, my HP would probably be half what it is now.

So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !
