But more importantly, it's time for my weekly Saturday Savers update ! 😀

How Did The Week Go ?
First off, I've been slowly getting my posting mojo back. Very slowly ! But hopefully I'm starting to get back into rhythm with it.
Most of my HP gain was a combination of powering up 50 HP on HPUD plus curation rewards. I'm starting to notice the payouts from EDS, but it'll be quite a while yet before it gets to the whole HIVE level !
Of the 50 HP I powered up, 30 went straight back out on delegations. I'm falling a little behind my target on those, but at the same time I don't want all my earnings to go to delegations ! The answer, of course, is to post more.....
HBD
HBD continues to do stunningly well, and is now consistently the majority of my earnings on Hive when converted back into Sterling values.
Some of this is down to price, but the reality is that HIVE would have to go up to £0.385 (48 cents) before my HIVE earnings matched my HBD ones.
This was also the first month where I earned over 30HBD in interest.
It's taken me a couple of years to get to that point, although some of that is because I only started to seriously DCA in this year rather than relying on rewards and an occasional purchase. But the lesson is that it is definitely worth starting early and building an HBD stack, as part of a balanced portfolio, of course. It also forms a kind of "final reserve" I can draw on in the event of a real life emergency where waiting for HP to power down isn't an option.
The importance of curation
Even when I haven't felt like posting, I've been keeping up with curating. I'm a great believer in curation as a way to bring us all together as a community. Reading (and upvoting) random posts on communities I don't usually go to is also a great way to broaden my horizons and learn new things.
But so many Hivers just post and trade, or do other things but don't curate. To me, that's like leaving easy money on the table !
Everyone uses Hive in a different way, which is one of it's strengths, but I'd like to hope that we all get into the habit of curating (or at least doing it automatically through a curation trail). It's also something we all need to subtly educate new Hivers to do. We can't force them, of course !
Something I have done in one of the other groups I post to (the Busy Bees) is create a one-off incentive to try to help encourage new Hivers to curate. The idea was that using Hivestats, the two redfish in the group who did best at curating in April (one, the one with highest curation APR, the other the one with the best curation APR growth) would get a 50HP delegation for a month. After all, it's people who upvote others' posts who get the most benefit from a delegation !
Sadly, the initiative didn't really work; it looks like going to the people who were already curating rather than spurring new curation from those who weren't doing it yet.
Oh well, it was worth a try..... I'll just keep banging on about curation anyway, if I say it enough maybe they'll start doing it just to shut me up 😀

I'm normally very disorganised about saving, and the support of the wonderful people in #SaturdaySavers has been invaluable in keeping me focused. I can honestly say that without it, my HP would probably be half what it is now.
So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !

Great when you get to that dollar a day in HBD interest, a real milestone! I agree, I started using HBD last year as part of my real life savings for a particular expense. It worked very well and I've started building up again for the same expense next year.
Strange that people don't use their "free money", especially when it's paying themselves 50%. I think some people think that their vote is too small and won't count, although that's wrong, of course. You don't even have to read the post, you could just set up auto-votes for people that do good things on Hive.
Mind you, someone at work was telling me that there's something like £30m unclaimed pensions in the UK. We're asking for £1m of it for a forever fund (ie we invest it and use the income).
Ah Blakes 7 ... amazing series ! A triumph of incredible acting and script writing over wobbly sets and budget restrictions.
The father of my first girlfriend was one of the sound engineers on B7 and the original Doctor Who. He used to joke that the special effects and props budget was so limited (£50 an episode) that on Blakes 7 the actresses would draw lots to decide who got the one bra for that week.....
