Worldbuilding Weekend Prompt #46 - Foundation Myths
Welcome to the next in an ongoing series of writing prompts in the Worldbuilding community !
I'm aiming to post one of these each Sunday. They aren't a replacement for the excellent daily prompts from @worldbuilding they're just an extra opportunity if you have a writing itch you want to scratch. 😀

The prompt this week is - Foundation Myths
Every nation (and sometimes every city) has it's foundation myths. Examples from our history include Qin Shi Huangdi declaring himself first emperor of China, Romulus and Remus Founding Rome, Alfred the Great beating back the Vikings and building the first English navy, or the events of the American Revolutionary War. Most of these tales have a grain of truth, but are often embellished and adjusted to create a foundation myth.
Tell me about a foundation myth in your setting ! How long ago was it, what actually happened and what is the mythic version, how far has it drifted from what actually happened, and how is it used in current times ?
Just to add a bit of spice to things, the two entries I most like (and are linked in comments to this post, so I can find them !) that are posted by midnight (GMT) next Saturday will each get a prize of one Hive SBI.
