You are just short sighted

While I was scrolling on social media, I found a post about the recent huge and long traffic jams in the middle of the city towards the airport, the International Airport here in my place. Do you know what would happen to the island that relies on tourism, but has very bad public transportation? I just waited time only before all those tourists fed up, and then started to lose interest in coming to the island which then killed the tourism industry.

But what makes me shake my head is that there is a huge rejection on the new MRT project that will be built as the new reliable mass transportation that will help reduce the traffic. And guess where the rejection comes from? it sadly came from the drivers that are working as tourist transportation drivers or guides, as they see public transportation as a competition rather than the way out of the traffic. yes I understand that some tourists might use the MRT, but most of the other tourists will take the privilege of being driven to the tourist destination on the whole island.

There is nothing better than driving or on a car that have a smooth travel, and not just stuck in the middle of a crazy traffic jams. Those drivers will certainly get more client, and then will get more money. While the local will have a reliable public transportation for work, since they also don't want to be stuck on traffic everytime they go to work, which is almost everyday.

those protesters who are rejecting the project are really shortsighted in my opinion, and didn't see the whole picture of the benefit the project will bring in the future.

Why does this sound familiar? In any development, those who oppose think that their short-term interest will be hurt by the change.
