'Communities' was a hive.blog invention and comes with a hive-xxxxxxx account number.
'Tribes' was what hive-engine called their front end clones.

Has anyone asked the question - which (if any) parts of these different "protocols" worked?

Yes, they did not, for the most part, work.
Some of them bought some friends, but even that has played out, afaik.

Retention seems like an ongoing challenge. HIVE is arguably for people who like to slow down a bit and read or write longer form content.

You can "doom scroll" Hive but it's not going to produce the same dopamine hit as legacy social media.

HIVE is a database, maybe you are talking about peakd?

Hive is an ecosystem, more users benefits us all.

You're correct my focus has been the social and content aspects, so I may have fallen into the bad habit of using HIVE synonymously with content stored in HIVE :)

Nothing moar users won't solve.

Moar is moar? I do like seeing the price of assists rise to incentivize development and maintenance of HIVE.

Demand should rise when vsc comes on line.
Blogging to get paid is pretty played out, atp.
Only a price rise will bring folks back, now.
Many of whom we don't want, anyways.

I'm okay with being anachronistic. It looks like Nostr gained a little steam from Ian Carroll's commentary - I also think for the time being the default mode of most legacy social media is the dopamine harvest. I don't see anything near term that will change that barring just generalized fatigue.

I noticed your vote mana is low.
Currently, at 23%, you give out 10 .22htu votes, but if you allow your vote mana to stay above 90% you will give out 10 .85htu votes.
Half of which goes to you in the form of hp.
Hive's math has many moving parts, it can take some time to learn it.

It sure can 😉

are you aware of the associative property of multiplication?

because at 25% VP I actually give out 40 0.22HTU votes.

For a total of >8.8htu.
The math is a 100% vote reduces mana by 2%.
You can give out just as many votes as you want, it will put your mana in the basement, but you can.
But, if you keep your mana over 90%, instead of 21% like you are now, you will grab a larger share of the pool.
You can view this by hovering over the 'stats' icon.

You could be giving out .9htu votes instead of .2htu.
But, you do you, that difference in some small part comes to me.
Mostly it goes to the top 20 accounts reaping the pool.

Max vote would be higher but total value delivered is the same. I believe by delivering 40+ votes per day that I am also less at risk to the real curation killer: 100% VP.

I likely overvote myself.

Have you found @dustsweeper?
When you vote on things unlikely to get other votes, your vote rounds down.
Hover over the payout on my comment and you will see.
1.9htu and less don't pay out.
I'm pretty sure that dustsweeper will pick up some of that for you, if you send them some hives.

I did and sent it some Hive, I'm not sure if it's processing when I vote from Tribe sites.
I'll go back through my transactions and check.

It should be reading the chain as the blocks go in, but it could be that they only vote twice a day.

I think I've got it properly formatted now. I didn't initially read the fine print, and I've now sent the correct memo to have it protect my outgoing curation.

Testing it now I just voted from here and we will see if it picks it up.

It will catch some of that dust.
It won't be long and you won't have to worry about it so much.
Presuming we stay off the price bottom.

I'm probably going add 200 to 300 HP on Hive-Power up day so that will inch me forward a bit.

So far so good it looks like it's catching the majority of my outgoing votes.
