My rock collection | GIVEAWAY #11- WIN 2000 STARBITS DAILY
The new millennium had just begun and Linkin Park frontman Mike Shinoda was in the recording studio, frantically working on one of the album's songs.
The room was closed and had no windows, so the musician had no idea what time it was. He began to mentally search for the lyrics of one of the most iconic songs of the year 2000, but he still didn't know it.
Some of the lines represent everything the band has been through since forming as a garage band in 1996. "I tried my best to get here, but in the end, it doesn't matter." According to the composer, this text is about the struggle between despair and the transience of life, but at the same time he does not answer these questions.
Until now, the singer couldn't calculate how much time he spent in the room, but after a few hours he decided to show his achievements to the band's drummer, Rob Burdon, who told him that the song was exactly the same. wild. I need to contact that person.
On March 5, 2001, 15-year-old Charles Andrew Williams started his day at Santana High School like any other. However, during the day he entered the academy bathroom, pulled out a gun, and shot a freshman.
Later he left his position and attacked the young people who were there, ending the life of another young man. He returned to the bathroom and assaulted the other man. In the end, he injured 13 people and killed two.
Two off-duty police officers heard the explosion and had to prevent him from leaving until reinforcements arrived. The aggressor was arrested and transferred to the authorities. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison and is still serving that sentence.
As the days went by, the media learned that the young man had left his father a note explaining the reason for the shooting. It only contained the chorus of the song written by Shinoda, and that was the starting point of his success.
Linkin Park was shocked by the news and had to issue a statement expressing its emotional support for the victims and their families. Various media outlets attempted to link the attack to the song, increasing the band's mystique, but there was no evidence of this.
"In the End" is considered one of the best songs of all time, selected by magazines and media such as MTV, VH!, Rock Radio, Q Music, Kerrang and Blender. At its peak, it peaked at No. 2 on Billboard Rock Songs and Billboard Alternative Songs. It can still be heard occasionally on music stations and channels.
