The theme for this week's challenge is a mythical creature of myth and legend. These creatures seem to be present in almost every culture across the world.

This particular card embodies the power of myth and legend perfectly. Radiating pure power, this massive beast can easily take down entire decks on it's own.

I present to you โ€” the CHAOS DRAGON. ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿช„๐Ÿ”ฅ

As it flew through the spinning vortex, the Chaos Dragon let forth a violent shriek, so loud that it was felt in the far reaches of every Splinter. The people of Praetoria fell to their knees, terror taking the strength from their legs and the courage from their hearts. For an army of monsters can be fought, the land defended with righteous fervor. But when even the invading hordes are fleeing before such a beast, what hope can there be? The answer is none when the eater of worlds has arrived, the true devourer of existence.

The Chaos Dragon is a Legendary Dragon card released during the Chaos Legion expansion. I'd daresay it's the mainstay of MANY Dragon decks. At LEVEL 1, it has 3 โš”๏ธMagic ATTACKโš”๏ธ and 3 ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸปSPEED๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป, with 4 ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธARMOR๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ and 10 โค๏ธHEALTHโค๏ธ. It has the FLYING and SCATTERSHOT ability. It's summoning cost is very high at 14 ๐ŸงชMANA๐Ÿงช.

These stats alone make the Chaos Dragon an EXTREMELY hard hitting unit with his massive attack power!

The Chaos Dragon's true strength lies in it's SCATTERSHOT ability which allows him to completely bypass any tanks even with TAUNT. No unit is safe from it's random attacks. I would consider this card to be in the HIGHEST TIER of cards for the Dragon splinter! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

The release of this Chaos Legion edition card has given the Dragon splinter one of the strongest units around. With it's raw stats granting it an immense amount of firepower and effective HP, this is effectively a one man army capable of bringing anyone to it's knees.

As we can see here, the main purpose of the Chaos Dragon is be a source of hard hitting Magic DPS. Stats wise, his attack and hp gets higher at higher levels, reinforcing it's ability to do what it does best! At levels 2 and above, he gains BLAST AND BLIND, turning him into an even more dangerous opponent than ever! Almost no one is safe from this monstrosity which can strike from anywhere on the battlefield! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ And if that isn't bad enough, it's FLYING and BLIND abilities, together with it's huge stats make this a tank that is really hard take down! ๐Ÿ’ช

Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used the Chaos Dragon. My opponent used the DRAGON/WATER splinter against my DRAGON/WATER splinter! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

This was a battle between two exact same factions! By some quirk of fate, brother was pitted against brother. Who would come out victorious at the end of this struggle? ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’ง VS ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’ง

At first glance, it would seem like my opponent had a SLIGHT ADVANTAGE over me. Our levels were similar, but he had a slightly overall higher level of units compared to me! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

  • My Summoner was a level 4 Delwyn while my opponent used a level 3 Daria! As his was an Epic Summoner compared to my common, he still had a slight level advantage over me!

  • Our forces were of a similar levels if we were only comparing the Legendary units used.

  • Where he had the advantage was in the Commons/Rares/Epics cards which were more levelled than mine.

  • Given this minor differences in power, would I still be able to win?

I would say that the Chaos Dragon was DEFINITELY the MVP of this match, having played a big role in turning the tide of battle. It's SCATTERSHOT and BLAST ability allowed it to take out some of the opponent's most dangerous and vulnerable units. This allowed my units to turn the tide of battle. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

This ensured that the other units could eventually wear down the opponent until victory was achieved! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†

1st CARD SLOT

Djinn Oshannus takes the role of the Main Tank in the first slot here. It will be the most important role since the backline will fall if the Main Tank goes.


2nd CARD SLOT

The Water Caller occupies this slot. His main role is to be the DPS and backup tank. Should the Main Tank fall, he will step up to take over the tanking duties.


3rd CARD SLOT

The River Nymph occupies the 3rd slot. It does a small bit of Magic DPS, but more importantly, it has the CLEANSE ability to remove any unwanted debuffs on my tanks.


4th CARD SLOT

The Venari Wavesmith occupies this slot. It PROTECT ability grants all my units +2 Armour and will greatly enhance their defensive survivability.


5th CARD SLOT

River Hellondale occupies the 5th slot. Safely protected in the backline, it's task is to deal Magic DPS while being able to RESURRECT the very first unit on my team who dies.


6th CARD SLOT

The Chaos Dragon occupies the final slot. Placed right behind, it is able to protect the team from any SNEAK attacks whilst inflicting its damage from across the battlefield.

As you can see, both of us fielded VERY SIMILAR decks! We used the EXACT SAME splinters and our choice of units were also heavily Magic based. My opponent leaned slightly towards having some melee dps units mixed in with his team though, while mine was purely magic.

๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’งDRAGON/WATER๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’ง VS ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’งDRAGON/WATER๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ’ง

My opponent used Agor Longtail as his main tank in the first slot. This is as good a choice as any for a tank. Agor has great defensive stats and the FLYING/TAUNT/VOID ARMOR abilities too. This ensures it will draw all damage to it and protect it's teammates.

His next 2 slots were all occupied by the Magic DPS-ers Oshuur Constantia and River Hellondale. They hit pretty hard on their own but what is more important is their RESURRECT ability. This will mean I will have face units coming back to life at least twice.

The final 3 slots were filled with a mix of melee and ranged DPS.

Overall, I would say this was a pretty decent lineup.

My choice of the Main Tank was Djinn Oshannus. He is a perfect candidate for such a task, having a massive amount of HP. Together with the VOID and PHASE abilities and his huge amount of damage, he will also double as DPS for my team. ๐Ÿ’ช

My next 4 slots were filled with mainly support units that also happened to deal Magic DPS. With the 4 of them having STUN/CLEANSE/PROTECT/RESURRECT, that ensures that my team is covered defensively from all angles.

The LAST slot features the Chaos Dragon whose job is to protect the backline and also unleash his incredible damage across the entire battlefield. With BLAST and SCATTERSHOT, no units are safe from him.


The battle started out with all our units just duking it out pound for pound. It was a high mana game with 48 mana as the limit. The rulesets were HEALED OUT and TAKING SIDES.

  • The 1st wave immediately showcased the offensive and defensive capabilities of my Chaos Dragon. It's first hit bypassed the opponent's TAUNT thanks to SCATTERSHOT and took out his River Hellondale with 1 hit. BLAST also ensured the surrounding units did not escape unscathed. That was 1 RESURRECT charged of my opponent's being used up. A great start indeed! ๐Ÿ’ช

  • Round 2 started off with another amazing bullseye from the Chaos Dragon. With a direct hit to the opponent's Dhampir Infiltrator, he him out instantly and also killed River Hellondale AGAIN with his BLAST damage. This meant NO MORE RESURRECT as River Hellondale never ever got to use his ability before dying! ๐Ÿคฃ๐ŸŽ‰

  • Faced with my overwhelming barrage of DPS, his main tank, Agor Longtail also fell in this round.

  • Round 3 saw my Djinn Oshannus fall, but he promptly got up again thanks to my own River Hellondale resurrecting him. ๐Ÿ˜

  • It was ALL OVER at this point as the game finished with a mopping up of whatever was left.

Talk about doing WAY MORE than it was supposed to!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿฅณ All I expected from the Chaos Dragon was for it to deal some damage as a DPS should. Yet it did more than that and took out all the crucial support units that could have changed the game completely!

It's SCATTERSHOT AND BLAST abilities really shone through in such a setup against a team that had huge tank with TAUNT in the front waiting to be healed by support units from behind.

Surely that made it the Man of the Match for this battle, punching way above it's weight!

This was truly an eye opener! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ†

Slowly, but surely, I wore down the opponent's team and the match was won handily. My team selection proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Would I have done anything differently? ๐Ÿค” This might have seemed like a match that would prove to be a challenge at the start because of how strong my opponent seemed to be. However, with my dominant VICTORY, IF I had to use the same cards again, there would be no better lineup than what I had already used for the match. Any other combination MIGHT have resulted in a loss for me. I'm really satisfied with the results against such a worthy opponent. ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡
