YES! It's this guy again! After I wrote about him last week, I'd never thought I would have had another interesting battle showcasing another aspect of his ability quite that soon again. But all things happen for a reason, and who am I to argue with what the fates decide? 😜

If it's not already obvious, I'm talking about everyone's favourite Handyman in Splinterlands. This cute rodent-like creature which most would dismiss as being weak and useless. But today, he turns into MIGHTY MOUSE!

For today's Share your Battle Challenge, I give you the SCAVO HIRELING! 🛠️🔧🔨

(Instead of writing about Dax Paragon, I've decided to write about the Scavo Hireling instead. I've had a battle which showcases his powerful repair ability and it would be a waste not to share this instead. 😱)

Scavo Hirelings are good at just about everything. Not great, not poor, just good. They enjoy doing menial tasks that don't require too much thought or effort. Whether it's digging ditches, bandaging wounds, or cooking a meal, they can get it done in no time at all. They accept coin as payment but don't really need it. They'd rather be paid in information, stories, and baubles as they love learning new things. Defenders of Praetoria have hired them to build walls and dig traps around the island to prevent the Chaos Legion from getting too close.

The Scavo Hireling is a Common Neutral card released during the Chaos Legion expansion. I'd daresay it's the mainstay of MANY decks. At LEVEL 1, it has 0 ⚔️ATTACK⚔️ and 2 🏃🏻SPEED🏃🏻, with 0 🛡️ARMOR🛡️ and 1 ❤️HEALTH❤️. It has the REPAIR ability. It's summoning cost is very low at 3 🧪MANA🧪.

These stats alone make the Scavo Hireling seem like a completely useless creature with neither the ability to attack or even do much more than take one hit on defense. 🤣

The Scavo Hireling's true strength lies in it's REPAIR ability which allows him to repair the armour of any of your units. This gives your team the ability to outlast the opponent in any physical damage battle. I would consider this card to be in the HIGHEST TIER of cards for the Neutral splinter! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

The release of this Chaos Legion edition card has given the Neutral splinter the ONLY card in this splinter to have the REPAIR ability right off the bat at level 1. If you're looking for a something to give your army the edge in outlasting everyone else, then the Scavo Hireling is your go-to guy.

As we can see here, the main purpose of the Scavo Hireling is to just offer your team support via his repair ability. Stats wise, his speed and hp gets higher at higher levels, reinforcing it's ability to do what it does best! At levels 6 and above, he gains CAMOUFLAGE AND SLOW, which will give him some much needed protection against units looking to take him out! 😱

⚔️🛡️My Battle Showcase🛡️⚔️

Let me present a battle I fought recently in which I used the Scavo Hireling. My opponent used the LIFE splinter against my DEATH splinter! 😱

This was a battle between two opposing factions! The forces of Light against Darkness. Who would come out victorious at the end of this struggle? 👼🏻 VS 💀

At first glance, it would seem like both our teams were very evenly matched.

• As this battle took place during a Guild Brawl Novice Gold Foil fray, both our units were all exactly at the same levels across the board.

• My opponent went for a pure melee dps lineup while I went for magic. 😜

• It was really going to be not just a clash in factions but of ideals too! Might VS Magic. 😱

• Given this distinct differences between both our sides, would I still be able to win?

I would say that the Scavo Hireling was DEFINITELY the MVP of this match, having played a big role in turning the tide of battle. It's REPAIR ability allowed it to somehow turn itself into the main tank instead, which allowed my units to turn the tide of battle. 😱

This ensured that the other units could eventually wear down the opponent until victory was achieved! 🏆🏆🏆

⚔️🛡️Battle Action Report🛡️⚔️

As you can see, both of us fielded VERY DIFFERENT decks! We used opposing splinters and our choice of units were completely different too. My opponent went for a Melee DPS team while I went for Magic DPS. Simply put, for those familiar with the classic game Heroes of Might and Magic, this is exactly a clash between that! 😁⚔🪄

👼🏻LIFE👼🏻 VS 💀DEATH💀

My opponent used the Disintegrator as his main tank in the first slot. This is as good a choice as any for a tank. The Disintegrator has great defensive stats and the DEMORALIZE ability too. This ensures that all melee damage against his team gets reduced further.

His next slot was occupied by a Gargoya Scrapper. It has the VOID ability which could complicate things for my Magic DPS team. It's role was probably to take some hits from any possible SNEAK/OPPORTUNITY attacks more than anything else though.

Overall, I would say this was a pretty decent lineup.

My choice of the Main Tank was the Scavo Hireling. Well, normally, one wouldn't ever even think of using him as a tank of any sort at all. With just 2 health, he's basically a unit that will be 1 hit KO-ed almost all the time.

However, given the rulesets prevalent in this matchup with ARMOURED UP and such a low mana battle, I decided to roll the dice and gamble on the opponent going for a physical dps lineup with limited attacking options.

In such a situation, he is a perfect candidate for such a task, having some armour now. Together with the REPAIR ability, he will be able to hold the line against the onslaught of my enemy. 💪

Next up, I had the Witch of Warwick in my 2nd slot. She is, at first glance, yet another very fragile unit. However, with her abilities LIFE LEECH and BLOODLUST, a few hits are all it takes to change the situation.

The battle started out with all our units just duking it out pound for pound. It was a really low mana game with 12 mana as the limit. The rulesets were ODD ONES OUT & ARMOURED UP.

• The 1st wave was a real bore for any spectators. Both sides unleashed their attacks but nothing much happened except for the clanging of weapons on armour.

• In most normal situations, that would have been the end of the Scavo Hireling. With just 2 HP, 1 hit would be more than enough to kill him outright. However, thanks to the ruleset providing him with 2 armour, he survived and then fixed himself up again with the REPAIR ability!

• The next few rounds saw the opponent smashing himself into the Scavo Hireling in vain as he could not deal enough damage to break through that small bit of constantly regenerating armour.

• All this while with the action on the front, my Witch of Warwick was dealing her damage and boosting her own health with every hit landed on the opponent.

• It was ALL OVER at this point as the opponent lost unit after unit every round while I did not even take a single bit of damage yet!

Talk about doing WAY MORE than it was supposed to!!! 😱🤯🥳 All I expected from the Scavo Hireling was for it to take as many hits as possible until it fell. Yet, it did more than that, and prevented the enemy from landing any real blows on me with not a SINGLE BIT OF DAMAGE being dealt to my team!

It's REPAIR ability really shone through in such a setup against a team that had no response against armour which it could not penetrate through fast enough to deal the needed fatal damage to my unit's Health pool.

Surely that made it the Man of the Match for this battle, punching way above it's weight!

Well as you can see here in this GIF of my battle, the results were pretty good! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

This was truly an eye opener! 😁🏆

Slowly, but surely, I wore down the opponent's team and the match was won handily. My team selection proved to be the edge I needed to eventually overpower my opponent. 💪🏻

Would I have done anything differently? 🤔 This might have seemed like a match that would prove to be a challenge at the start because of how our teams were evenly matched. However, with my dominant VICTORY, IF I had to use the same cards again, there would be no better lineup than what I had already used for the match. Any other combination MIGHT have resulted in a loss for me. I'm really satisfied with the results against such a worthy opponent. 🏆🥇
