Hello to any of my readers and "Dear (weekly) Diary" 😜

This past week doesn't seem to be any better than the last for the overall crypto market. There was a slight boost when news about Michael Saylor's Microstrategy raising another $750 million to buy more Bitcoin. But that upward price momentum soon came back down and BTC is still rangebound at about $29k at the moment. I think is what we can expect for the time being. On the bright side, this could also be a good time to gradually accumulate your coins. 😉

On the Splinterlands dev side of the game, I wouldn't say this is precisely Splinterland news, but I would consider it strongly correlated. Genesis League Goals has officially gone into Open Beta! 😜

But before I go into detail...

A brief introduction before I start though...

Good Day to all Splinterlands players! (and people of HIVE! 😜) I've made it a point to blog about my weekly progress and experiences in Splinterlands/HIVE in my "weekly diary". Splinterlands & HIVE are what I'd consider to be my entry point into the World of Crypto, and I intend to use this as a means to look back on the path I've taken in the years ahead.⏳⏳⏳

This is now the 89th consecutive week writing in my Diary (of sorts) detailing my Splinterlands Journey ever since I started this game. I talk about what has gone on my personal Splinterlands playing experience, my weekly Guild Brawl Reports, and also any Splinterlands ingame news. 🎉🥳🎊

No week goes by in Splinterlands without some news event happening though. And here's my pick of some of the most interesting ones in my opinion. 📰📰📰

This past week saw another End of Season, which means things have been rather hectic. This was also the first EOS where bots have been banned from the Modern format, albeit midway through the season. One consequence seems to be that it has inadvertently become harder to push for the higher ranks if a player (like myself) does not have a max levelled deck for the league they play in.

My rewards have dropped to abysmally low amounts and for the first time in forever, my alt was unable to make it into the Gold League. This can be attributed to the lack of SPS nerfing the amount of RP gained with every win and also the increased difficulty playing against real humans as I mentioned.

On the plus side, the SPS for every win has risen dramatically and I actually found myself making more SPS than before, even when I won considerably more.

My quest for more Gold Foil Legendary cards from my rewards chests continues on ("Greed is Good!" 😈). It's a 0.008% chance, at base level, to pull a legendary gold foil, in case you were wondering 😉. Here's to more jackpot strikes in the future (i hope) 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀.

I have not managed to get any new Nightmare packs to replace all those I've sold. I will wait patiently to get them at the price I want. 🤑

There isn't anything of note to speak of in my Gladius Case openings, so I'll leave it at that. Hopefully something better will pop up after I accumulate enough for another one.

My main regularly picks up the ✨🏅✨Gold Foil Chaos Legion Only Fray no.12✨🏅✨ while my alt takes up the ✨🏅✨Bronze Chaos Legion Fray no. 7✨🏅✨ every week.

I would say both accounts did pretty well again. My main managed a perfect 6-0 score while my alt almost matched it had it not suffered a single loss leaving it with a 5-1 score. Oh well, we can't have it all I guess. 🤣

PIZZA 2 Guild managed to finish in 2nd place! 🏆🏆🏆

This was a great result and it was really close. We were just 1 win away from taking the first spot. It looks like my alt could have had won it all for us had it not suffered that single defeat. This shows how important every battle is. Sometimes, victory is decided by a razor's edge.

Great Job from everyone who took part in the Guild Brawls! I'm proud of you all! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Genesis League Goals is finally in Open Beta!

Whilst this isn't Splinterland news in the strictest sense, considering how closely linked GLG is to SPL, I think we can make an exception. 😜 I'm almost certain that the huge majority of people, if not all, who've bought into GLG are Splinterlands players. In fact, even staking SPS yields GLX (the ingame token for GLG), which means a significant number of Splinterlands players own lots of GLG assets. In fact, it could even be possible that some Splinterlands players aren't even aware of it! 🤣

I do think that GLG couldn't have chosen a better time to be near launch. Lionel Messi joining the MLS has brought lots of interest into the Beautiful Game, as it is known, and lots of famous personalities have been seen turning up at Soccer (Football in the rest of the world 😜) matches just to catch a glimpse of the global superstar that Messi is.

If Genesis League Goals is able to properly position itself to capture the attention of even one of these personalities, it could take the entire HIVE ecosystem to new heights!

Of course it's easier said than done and is still pretty much a longshot, but one can always hope for the best. At least there is a chance of this happening with the existence of the game itself.
