What happens now that WWE has been sold?

avatar

Well, it's not really a "WHAT IF" but actually the reality by now.

Wrestling's dominant brand, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), has been recently been sold to Endeavor for a massive 9 billion dollars! Yes! Thats $9b. My gosh! Vince McMahon must be swimming in money now. 🤣

However, the question still stands because to be honest, a "bystander" like me has no idea what will happen. A lot more questions are actually brought up just by this sale.

Some I can think of are like...

Will the UFC make cameo appearances in the WWE and vice versa?

Will this giant behemoth end up dominating the entire industry?

Is this monopoly a positive or negative thing?

Will more fans be brought over both both franchises?

The questions are endless actually, but these are just some of the off the top of my mind. I'm no expert in this industry and am barely even considered a spectator nowadays. However, the thought of WWE still holds fond memories for me as it was something I grew up with as a child. Those were the days where kids thought wrestling was "real". I'm even amazed we didn't end up breaking any bones attempting some of those moves! 🤣

Any thoughts then people?

I think for the next probably six months to a year you won't see a lot of major changes. We'll get the odd cross-over promotion here and there, maybe Chad Gable goes and fights in UFC or somebody comes and does an angle here or there in WWE, but it's not like they're gonna merge together in the battle to end Kayfabe forever.

There will be cuts, for sure. That's a given in any corporate merger.

I wouldn't call this a monopoly if I'm being honest. AEW is run by a billionaire('s kid) and they have plenty of bargaining power. And the independent scene from Impact and MLW down through GCW and Revolver are thriving, international groups like AAA and NJPW are thriving, and women's wrestling is thriving worldwide...

We're in a golden age of wrestling here, and WWE will likely always be the far-and-away leader of the industry, but there are a whole lot of gaps to fill around that and a whole lot of rasslin' out there to fill it!

They will become the elephant in the room though. If they weren't already so. I guess that makes them a Giant Elephant now! 😜

I feel like they've been that for a while. I'm okay with it if I'm being honest.

Get eyes on PRO WRESTLING then let people discern for themselves which niches they want to seek out and watch.

Anything for eyes on the product and asses in seats!
