2023 Silver Reverse Proof S Morgan Dollar

If you've seen some of my previous posts, you'll know I'm a sucker for reverse proofs. I love how the matte background and mirror polished subject draw your eyes to the foreground and main subject of the coin or round. In my opinion, it makes them even more beautiful than their proof counterparts.

Obverse

The obverse features the iconic Morgan design, which features a lady by the name of Anna Willes Williams. (Source)

As you can see in the picture, because of how the reverse proof is designed, the word "Liberty" really pops when you shine a light on the piece! I also love that all the stars are reverse proof. It's the small details that can have a big impact on the visual appeal of the coin!

My only gripe here is that NGC got a speck of dust on the coin when they were putting it into the slab. Oh well. This piece is for investment purposes, so I'll likely sell it at some point once it's grown in value. First World problems, right?

Reverse

I've always liked the eagle design on the back of Morgan dollars. The reverse proof seems to make it pop even more.

I think they did a great job with these! I paid around $180 for this, which isn't bad considering it's RP70. The original US Mint set of this and the Reverse Proof Peace Dollar went for about $185, but grading costs money. I see this only going up in value over time. If you love Morgan dollars and reverse proof coins, don't pass up the chance to get one! 😁

Yeah, the Morgan + Peace RP set were about $180-190 without grading.

Ain't no way I'm touching those premiums, peace dollar is sexy but then Morgan's are not 🤣 I still would buy em for the right price but them peace dollars are where it's at !BBH
