2023 Silver Reverse Proof S Peace Dollar

If you've seen some of my previous posts, you'll know I'm a sucker for reverse proofs. I love how the matte background and mirror polished subject draw your eyes to the foreground and main subject of the coin or round. In my opinion, it makes them even more beautiful than their proof counterparts. The last coin I reviewed was the 2023 S Reverse Proof Morgan Dollar, which comes as a set with this one (Not graded, of course), so it made sense to feature this one next.

Obverse

The coin was designed by Anthony de Francisci, and the portrait is partially based on his wife, Teresa de Francisci, representing Liberty on the coin. (Source)

Anthony said he achieved the realistic hair blowing effect by opening a window and letting the wind blow through her hair. Very smart, and it adds depth to the coin you wouldn't get with hair "at rest."

Reverse

I don't care for the eagle design on the back of this one compared to the design on Morgan dollars, but it's still a good design. I simply prefer to see the eagle in an action pose, rather than at rest.

I think they did a great job with these! I paid around $180 for this, which isn't bad considering it's RP70. The original US Mint set of this and the Reverse Proof Morgan went for about $185, but grading costs money. I see this only going up in value over time. If you love Peace dollars and reverse proof coins, don't pass up the chance to get one! 😁

Yeah, I'm guessing it's to make it historically accurate. I know some people weren't thrilled about that.

Love it! I agree with you about the eagle, but for the front side I always prefer the peace dollar. Great design.

I still lean more towards the Morgan myself, but I still appreciate the Peace Dollar design. 🙂

I've mainly been trying to post every other day. Your reputation is based on the upvotes you get from others. I've done a lot of reblog lotteries and giveaways to gain followers and build an audience, which usually results in more upvotes.

I also try to post topics outside of gold and silver in their respective communities. This way I get more exposure to others outside of just the stacking community.
