An Experiment Converting Silver to Gold

This year I decided to go heavier into gold, as I've been focusing more on silver the last couple of years. I have no interest in selling off my bullion, but I do have some collector's pieces hanging around that I'm willing to sell.

When my bullion dealer announced they were planning to hold a community auction where members can send in pieces for auction, I was intrigued. Since I opted for store credit, their cut is just ten percent of the closing price. Considering there are hundreds of eager buyers anxiously watching these, I figured now might be a great opportunity.

I browsed through my collection and found some pieces I'd be willing to part with in exchange for some store credit to buy more gold.

This is a 2019 2oz Australian Proof Double Dragon. It was missing the Certificate of Authenticity when I got it, but I think it'll still fetch a decent price.

This is the 2023 2oz Chad Mauser. It's very limited mintage. While I like it, I prefer their revolver and decorated 1911, so I don't mind parting with this one.

The auction will be held on June 21st, which isn't too far away. Hopefully, my items bring in a nice price.

While I've parted with some of my silver for Hive, this is the first time I've sent pieces off for auction. I'll have to do a follow-up post comparing what I originally paid and what I get at auction, minus the fee. This should be fun! 😁

Thanks! Hopefully, it'll get me a nice store credit, so maybe I can get a 1/4oz of gold. 😁

The Mauser reminded me of a story of my great grand mom from my mother's side and how she waved the gun in the air scaring thieves to get out of the family compound. The gun was given to her from a cousin in the ROC army under Chang Kai Shek. The Mauser had long run out of ammo but was very effective against petty thieves and intruders.

That should be fun to see what they bring in. They do look like nice pieces.

Both are good pieces and I am sure they will bring a good price.

That's cool! Hopefully you reap some big piles of store credit off of those nice pieces and pick up some more gold!

Put the Double Dragon in a case, perhaps you can fetch $200 for it!
