Saving Your Hive Dust

For those of you who've been on Hive for some time, this may be nothing new to you. For those who are newer, you might be surprised to hear you're losing rewards when upvoting comments.

"How is this possible," you ask. Just like every post you upvote, a dollar or Hive value is given out based on your Hive Power for comments. If your upvote dollar amount is less than $0.02 it is considered "dust" and doesn't get paid out in the seventh day. Instead, it's zeroed out, or swept clean as if it were "dust."

Fortunately, a couple of different services were created to help with this problem.

Dustsweeper
You can read more about it by clicking here. In a nutshell, you send an amount of Hive to @dustsweeper. Your comments are then scanned and upvoted to $0.026 on the fifth or sixth day, so it is above the threshold, and you still get your rewards. When you send Hive, you can specify whether incoming or outgoing upvotes are prioritized.

Dustbunny
You can read more about it by clicking here. With @dustbunny it's slightly different. You ask to be put on the list in their Discord channel. You can delegate Hive Power to be given priority on having your comments upvoted. As more of your comment votes are saved from becoming "dust," your priority level decreases, so others' comments are given higher priority until their "quota" starts filling up.

Both services have their advantages. Dustsweeper is constantly scanning and very prompt, but you do have to send Hive to use it. With Dustbunny, you're only delegating HP, but there is a chance upvoted comments could be missed as you move lower down the priority list. For me, I've decided to use both for now so I have "full coverage," so to speak. Hopefully these services are helpful to you in your Hive journey.

To be fair, they don't really advertise so I'd imagine sign-ups are mainly from word of mouth.

Oh man, I had completely forgotten about dustbunny. You have really been doing an amazing job uncovering all these Hive services since you signed up. Well done!

For the past several years... well pretty much from the beginning, I just send dustsweeper some money every now and again. Good service.

Yeah, I'm happy with the service and I think with the two paired together, it's a great combo that lets me throw out small upvotes on comments without wasting my vote and still benefiting each person.

It does work better sending Hive, because then it will actively scan all your upvotes comments and comments you've upvoted.
