Silver Stash Box Update

(Edited)

A while back, I created a post giving instructions on how to make your own magnetic stash box. You can put whatever you like in it, and for me, I chose to put silver in mine. This is silver that's toned, scuffed, etc., so I don't have any concerns about playing with it with my bare hands.

The design is pretty simple and relatively inexpensive. If you want to build your own, here is the original post.

So here's what I have in it right now.

There are three generic 1oz Liberty rounds there, along with two toned Samoan African Elephant coins.

Here's what I'll be adding to the stash this time.

I picked up a couple of circulated American Silver Eagles for $2.95 over spot, and the Maple was $2.95 over spot. I paid 17.95x face for the four Walking Liberty half dollars.

The Viking round is from Mason Mint, and I paid $1.10 over spot for this as a "penance purchase." I'll dedicate a post to this for another day. It really needs its own post to appreciate the silliness behind the whole idea.

This puts me at 10oz of cheap silver in the stash box. I'll keep adding to this until it gets to the point that the weight is too much for the box to stay secure. At that point, I'll make another silver stash box and start filling that one up. 🤑

Until the next update, keep on stacking! 🫡

Do you have a secret stash of silver hidden away? If so, I'd love to hear what treasures you have in it!

I have my own Stash boxes designed to be stowed on an 18th Century frigate.

That way you have a quick get out dodge case ready to go! Pretty cool!

Very true, although my plan is to leave the silver behind in a true bugout situation and leave with the gold.

If I have time to grab the silver, great, but it's harder to move than the equivalent value in gold.

I only have a few boxes right now, one is to put in the change I get until I get through the researching of any possible errors or valuable ones.. it's an ugly and cheap box :)

Then there is my cute silver box which I shared recently for some jewellery and I regret not buying a similar one from the same maker (it was too expensive to my liking) as that would have fit some more coins..

So right now most of my coins are stuffed away in ugly boxes that I had still. Waiting to be replaced in upgraded ones when I find them...

I don't want to have them all in one place though, so they will be diversified in terms of secret stashes when I have enough to divide !LOL

A box is a box. The plain/ugly ones are more likely to get overlooked by would-be burglars anyway.

Having several good hiding spots is a smart idea! 😁
