Token Raffle to Help New Hiveians?

Everyone is trying to build on Hive. Building a following, a community, relationships, Hive Power, etc. It can be a long grind, but the friendships made along the way, the comraderie and the eventual delight of seeing your work recognized by others makes it all worthwhile. That's the beauty and dream of Hive.

I don't particularly care for the word "struggle," so I'll use "challenge" instead. What we don't see is the internalized thoughts of those grappling with the challenge of Hive.

  • "What should I post?"
  • "How often should I post?"
  • "I'm putting a lot of time into my post, so why is nobody voting or commenting on it?"
  • "It's so hard to get noticed."
  • "Why are they getting so many upvotes, but not me?"
  • "I feel like nobody cares."

Do any of these sound familiar? I've thought these exact same things at one point or another in my journey on Hive. You and I put our best foot forward online and show the world a mask, and hide our fears and insecurities within ourselves.

Encouragement
People need encouragement, especially on Hive. We're human and we are wired to want interaction. While I can't make everyone on Hive search to the ends of the blockchain to encourage one another, maybe I can do something to still bring encouragement.

Hive Engine Tokens
Whether you know this already or not, there are Hive Engine tokens out there. You earn them for posting, commenting, being "tipped" by someone, delegating to a project or by simply buying them. What they do can vary. Some pay dividends, some provide upvotes, others let you tip people, etc.

The Idea
I'm proposing a raffle where the entry fee is low. The idea is to allow as many people to enter as possible. The entry fee would be 1 HSBI, because the person sponsoring me with 1 HSBI to buy a raffle ticket gets 1 HSBI themselves, which gives us both a small upvote when we post. Encouragement. Small, but it's still something. That could be all someone needs, is that little bit of daily encouragement, in the form of a post upvote, encouraging them to keep going.

The Prizes
The prizes would vary. I'm thinking of tokens like BRO, because holding just 1 token pays around 0.004 Hive per week in dividends. Also LGN, because staking 10 or more gives you daily Hive dividends. Similarly, there's EDS and DAB. The idea is the prizes would provide holders/stakers a recurring dividend from established projects that aren't going to vanish overnight. Those dividends can be used to help others power up their HP. Again, a small daily or weekly bit of encouragement.

Everyone needs encouragement, but especially those newer to Hive.

It's a good idea, although I don't know if small accounts will justify spending 1 HSBI (they probably don't knwo what it is)
The challenge as you put it is real. I think most new joiners become disillusioned with Hive, even if you engage like crazy the odds are you won't be rewarded in reality. Coming in you are handicapped and there are other things out there which levels the playing field. It is hard to get users to Hive and even harder to get them stay now.

I like raffles where hsbi are used as tickets. I've seen a couple of them in the ssg community.
This way both the organizer and the participants already win by just buying tickets! :D

That's a nice thought. You can never have to many HSBI! Drip, LGN, and Bro are all great picks.

Great idea! I may have to think about doing something similar instead of my weekly HSBI giveaway.
