12 Ink Sketches of Zombie Cats
Hello everyone, I'm Byron from Canada and I draw cats. Not ordinary every day cats that everyone else draws though ... I like to draw zombie cats. Zombie Cats are a lot different than ordinary cats and not just because they're undead, they're often falling apart, dilapidated or incapacitated in some way but they still have a zest for life.
When I first started to draw them it was all experimental and a huge learning experience on how to draw the cat figure. After a while it evolved into drawing and painting zombie cats as a way to battle my own personal depression and to try to spread a message of togetherness with other people.
Lately I have started trying to mint all my zombie cat art on the blockchain. I use the WAXP blockchain the most because it has no gas fees, doesn't cost me much to create the digital collectibles and doesn't cost the collectors a lot to collect either. As an added bonus the WAX blockchain allows creators to develop their own token and sell their NFTs for that token.
Plus the WAX blockchain has easy ways to make PACKs which act just like real life trading card packs. They hold more than 1 NFT and allow collectors a fun way to try to collect the entire set by trading with other collectors.
So back to the ART for a moment ... all of these zombie cats were drawn sometime between 2012 an 2020. Usually ink on paper and usually as exercises (or studies) for larger works and paintings.
One thing I like to do now when drawing zombie cats is to use the ink to define not only the shape of the cat, but also the flow of the fur.
Sometimes it gets a bit darker like that one, other times I keep the sketch light and loose.
The most fun thing I have learned while drawing all of these cats is that it's hard to draw the same one twice so I seldom try.
Sometimes I try to draw the entire zombie cat, with or without accessories
Other times I draw just the head.
With this small series of 12 zombie cat ink sketches, I created a craft. Collect all 12 zombie cat ink sketches and craft them into a limited edition collage like this
That's another fun thing about WAX - you can craft and blend NFTs together to get more rare and exclusive artworks.
I just dropped this series for my collectors today and priced it at 66.6 DHC (the community coin I created to reward my collectors with. We call it Da Horde's Coin) As of this writing, nearly 100 packs have sold, which means 300 zombie cat ink sketches are out in the wild, and 5 collages have been created which used up 60 of those 300.
It's pretty fun to build on the WAX blockchain, even more fun to draw zombie cats.
Maybe next article I will write about HOW to draw a zombie cat.
Reminds me of the illustration style from the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books!
That's cool - thanks :)
Need to write a book called Scary Cat Tails to Tell in the Dark ;)

cool ink work bro, reminds me to make a card game or just a card-sized artprint with attractive packaging, very cool when it is on the stall table at an art event...
thank you - i haven't been to a live event in years
