October has arrived

As September has passed and the first day of Hive Power UP day has gone by as well, it's already the second day of October. In the past this used to be the start of a much colder month in terms of weather as well as more rainy days throughout the month. Not here though, 32 degrees Celsius according to the forecast and I can confirm today is just bloody hot. I appreciate the fact that I can walk outside without a coat for most of the year here, but the hot days don't have to last if it were up to me, just 25 degrees is pleasant enough.

But enough about the weather, October is also about Halloween. I don't know if you celebrate it on your end of the world, growing up, we never did. I started to learn that other countries in Europe do while living abroad and so this year it meant I ordered an outfit for my daughter early, fitted, approved and now waiting to be worn.

Spooky film month

When I started to check new releases for October, I fully expected to see some Halloween themed movies. If this is really the case, you will have to wait and see when I get to the recommendations below.

The fall of the house of usher

The first one I will share today is The fall of the house of usher and it seems that this is one of these recommendations fitting the Halloween theme of October. If you check the intro about this movie they talk about blood and gore. It's about a CEO of a pharmaceutical, who's children die brutally. It makes you wonder what this person has done in the past and who's aiming for revenge. I personally don't love blood and gore in a movie, but as some people do, I will leave you the trailer here anyway. That thumbnail alone gives me the creeps!

Casper

Already on Netflix since earlier this month, a little spooky movie many of us remember from our childhood: Casper. This is a much less scary little ghost, a little older one as well because this movie dates from 1995! Maybe you have seen it already, maybe not. I think with the Halloween theme this month you could check it out on Netflix to check it out with the kids. Remember Christina Ricci in this movie?

To get rid of the spirits inside the mansion, a doctor is hired to fix the problem. But then the daughter finds the friendly little ghost Casper. How will it end? You will have to check it out yourself. Check out the trailer below:

Big Vape

To make sure I'm not only talking about Halloween themed movies, let's check out another new release scheduled for October 11, "Big Vape: The Rise and Fall of Jull". Now let me be honest, the name "Juul" didn't ring any bell here although my partner is a vape fan since the day he tried it. But the title lured my interest to check out the trailer.

Now let me tell you that I remember very clear that at some point there was a shift that vape products were a target and that this was a huge deal. In fact, I even secured a research job at the time when it was happening to represent the country I lived in and handle all the interviews and data processing in my area. It was actually very interesting but managed by people who weren't managing it properly and so the whole research died an early death, quite sadly actually as it could have made a difference and I felt I was part of something big when I was hired.

When this job ended, so di my interest in the vaping business to be honest and slowly I heard less and less about the topic. Until recently, so it's actually great timing to find this documentary and I can't wait to watch it and learn more about the topic. Although I will probably question everything because the truth can be somewhere in the middle OR even further from that, depending on how it's presented in the documentary.

Elite season 7

The last one I will share today is one that I had no idea was coming but personally looking forward to. In my journey towards more Spanish film, I found this tv show during the first season and I was hooked right away. Yes, a bunch of entitled rich kids at a private Spanish school and a new murder in every season. It's predictable but yet they have managed to make me doubt the killer every time.

I don't care if something is predictable honestly, that is if the rest is done well and enough excitement is added to the show. I've enjoyed every season and it's probably some sort of guilty pleasure. It has to be your type of show to watch, I know I always binge the whole season as soon as I can. If you have been following the previous 6 seasons and the bonus episodes from last year with some side stories, here's the trailer of season 7, scheduled for October 20.

That's all for today, I hope you will find at least one recommendation to your liking, if you have one of your own to share please do so in the comment section below.

Have a great week ahead!
