Yeah this is absolutely very similar to what I was talking about just the other day! It's funny how things like this happen.
The words from the Nvidia guy are completely accurate, too. The people from these schools are definitely smart and all that, but what often does not accompany them in their lives is hardship. Hardship is a difficult thing to deal with but it is such an important way to teach us things about life. Without hardship, most great things wouldn't happen.
Sort of a related but not aside, I think this is also where I have issues with the concept of "heaven". A place that has no hardship, all peace, no want or any of that stuff? In a way that may sound okay for a few minutes, but at the same time, those things are all really important ways they teach us how to be better. I wonder if the concept of heaven that we think of is flawed, and it's more of a place that we can surpass the challenges presented to us in a way that is beneficial and conducive for growth? A really crazy thought... are we in heaven now? That's a real mind-bender!
That's an interesting concept of "heaven". Yeah, we should definitely find ways to be challenged in our lives. It doesn't have to work related, it could be trying out a new sport or learning a life skill, and becoming better at it.
