The unexpected visitor - SMAP Round 138
Hello, Hivers and Feathered Friends!
Happy week! This is my first participation in the #SMaP Show Me A Photo Contest which is now in its 138th Round! And this week has a free theme for the choice of the bird.
Yesterday we were gathered at my aunt's house for her birthday. We were sitting at a table near the balcony window when suddenly two of the thousands of macaws that usually fly across the city sky, especially in the early morning and before sunset, landed at the window.
And one in particular seemed to be an unexpected visitor to the birthday party. It peeked inside the house.
They are so striking with those vibrant colors and also quite noisy.
It's been a while since I've seen them up close.
This is the photo with which I am going to participate in the contest. 👆
I'm sure this one was asking us to feed it. In Caracas, many people give them food when they perch in their window, but my aunt had no bananas for them yesterday.
Something always surprising about these colorful birds is that they don't run away when you approach them.
Here it looks like saying, what do you say?
The macaws that we usually see flying over Caracas are not native. I don't remember there being macaws when I was a child. I'm not sure how they got here because there are many stories out there. They were probably brought as exotic pets from other parts of the country and some escaped.
Although they are very beautiful and striking, they are not in their natural habitat here. And they are not pets.
At my aunt's house, you can see them perched on the roof of the building across the street late in the afternoon but rarely perch on her balcony, so this time we were lucky.
After a couple of pictures more, it flew off to meet the others. And I was a little frustrated that I couldn't capture a shot of it flying, but that will be another time.
Thank you for reading.

They sure are daring no wonder you were able to take good pictures of them. They are cute though🥰🥰
Good job!!
Thank you very much! Yes, they can be daring, hehe.
My happy belated birthday to your aunt. I can't believe that wild birds have come down in the window, as if nature wanted to give your aunt a birthday gift.
How great that birds approach people to offer them food, what you say makes a lot of sense, that they have been introduced as successful pets, that would explain why they are so close to people
What beautiful photographs, I appreciate that you let us know these beauties, much success in your first participation in the challenge
Have a happy start to the week
It's true, it was as if they had gone to congratulate her :)

Exactly what I thought Super Eli...

Probably they used to see and interact people. They trust people. They are very intelligent. And if anyone would like to buy them from a breeder, then, similarly to predatory birds, they are very expensive too.
Beautiful bird! I only see these kinds in a zoo. It's amazing to see them flying around free.
It's really amazing to see them so close and free.
A beautiful visit for spectacular images. I remember my days in Caracas with that beautiful sky and the noisy birds flying over it. I congratulate you for your photo to participate, it is perfect. Best of luck in the contest, my friend. Best regards.
Amazing macaws!

That's a beautiful feathered friend, it looks kind too haha. They also like very used to people that they don't fly away anymore when they spotted one.
Wow - that is awesome, they are beautiful birds. And I'm amazed that you say thousands of them fly across Caracas ! For me that would be an awesome sight to see, and its so interesting that they are not native there.

Some unique colorful birds. That's a lot of birds for them not being native. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the competition ☺️
They are not native, but there are already many of them, and they can be seen flying over the city, especially in the evenings. And with the years and the increase in number, they have become something that identifies the city.
Thank you!
Never have I imagined or seen anything like that 👀
Do you know how lucky you are to have visitors like that?!
I'd be spending all my money on bananas for sure :)
Yes, I feel lucky about that.
It's been a long time since I've seen one so close. If I had known, I would have brought some bananas for sure:)
So incredible :)
It was a real surprise to see. And posts like these are so great because they remind me that the world isn't just this tiny village. I think we tend to forget some days...
This is fantastic! I can't believe they're wild. What a wonderful experience it've must been. Do they try to find food in the city, or are they just curious to see humans?
I think both, lol
How I missed Maruni the pet of my employer at Singapore. Macaws is very intelligent and smart. They can talked also coqui and maybe I'll try to join this contest lol. Is it ended already?
I'm sorry for the late reply. The contest runs every week, so you can join at any time, only be sure to follow the rules:)
