Time to chill out for a few days

I have been in Bogotá, Colombia for a few days now. I will be here for a couple of weeks. The last few days at home were hectic, and since I got here I have been in the process of renewing my American visa. Everything went smoothly and now I just have to wait for my passport to be returned in the next few days. So now finally is the time to chill out for some days, and enjoy the city, which has wonderful weather these days. It is not the rainy city I knew. The skies are clear and in the daytime, it is even a bit warm in the sun.

Since I arrived last Wednesday, the weather has been like this. This is how it was that morning outside the El Dorado airport, which is one of the most modern airports in South America.

Bogotá is a congested city, and traffic can be hellish. There are traffic jams, trancones as the locals call them, everywhere. But the city does have a bicycle route. In different places, there are bicycles for rent. These were very close to one of the places I had to visit these days doing the paperwork.

I am not a bike rider but I have wanted to walk to keep the habit. These days, despite how tired I was, I went for a long walk to visit the Gran Estación Shopping Center. From where I am staying, I did a 15 thousand steps round trip, not shabby at all to keep me in movement. The mall is a nice place to go window shopping.

Here, as in Caracas, there are still Christmas decorations in public spaces. This is the access plaza to the mall.

And the view from the terrace. Blue skies with few clouds have given me the city these days.

I have tried to maintain my healthy eating habits as much as possible, although it is not that easy;) Near the hotel where I'm staying for these first days, I found a place that sells homemade lunches, very good. The place is clean and busy at noon which is a good sign.

Best of all is the price. A lunch with soup, main course, and juice cost me 17,000 pesos, just over 4 dollars. In Caracas, it is almost impossible to get something like that. The place is called El Lucero, in Quinta Paredes.

In the next few days, I will tell you about my explorations around the city. I have no specific plans. It's been so many years since I've traveled somewhere alone that I'll do it as I feel like it every day.

For now, I want to drink a lot of good Colombian coffee and enjoy the good weather of these days.

Thank you for reading.

Hello dear friend @coquicoin good morning
Bogota is a charming city, my youngest son Ramiro lives in that city, and what you say is true, these days this week he has been one of the most stable since he lived there.
How great that even though you are on vacation, you try to maintain your healthy habits.
From what we talked to my son, life there is quite affordable compared to Argentina, especially the food prices.
What an exquisite dish. May you enjoy your stay

How nice that your son lives in Bogota. I like the city a lot, although sometimes it is overwhelming, especially because of the traffic.
The weather these days has been wonderful. And yes, the food here is cheap compared to Venezuela too.
Have a great week:)
Saludos!

That seems like a very nice place. I hope that all the procedures went ok, and that you can get the American Visa well. : )

That food looks so nice, and make me hungry in the middle of the night here in my country. hahah

Hola amigo Jesus!
The food here is tasty and there are all kinds of prices, but in general, it is cheaper than in Venezuela. What I showed is a lunch like the ones we call "ejecutivos", here they call them "corrientazos".
Feliz semana!

The weather has been glorious indeed, with no rain!! That´s not too common here.
But alone it's not so fun to be honest, hehe. Maybe I'm getting old 😂

From what I could appreciate you feel good in Colombia, and now that you were able to solve your problems you should feel less worried. Enjoy the weather, it looks great and drink coffee, Colombian coffee is excellent. The food is appetizing, I make plantains like this in chicharritas at home. Beautiful days are waiting for you. Enjoy them. Good night.😁❤️

Thank you!!
The restaurant was one of those home-cooked, like everyday lunches, but it was very good and the price was great.
Have a great week:)

It's good to chill out and not have any worries. Hope you get your passport back soon and your renewal of your visa comes quickly. 15,000 steps round trip is quite the journey, how far of a distance is that? I envy the weather your in right now, I'm inside and still haven't taken off my jacket since I was last outside, hehe. Take care and enjoy yourself at your own pace 😊

The walk was about 11 kilometers.
Hopefully, the weather over there will improve soon, they have had a rough few days of cold, right? My son who is in Chicago told me he is desperate to get out of the cold hehe.
Thank you and have a good week 😄

Oh that's some good stepping..

It's suppose to be just above freezing most of this week which is a relief and feels warm to what we have had.

Have a great week ahead as well 😁
