DCA into Hive as paying a subscription for the 5 services I am getting from Hive

What do I tell myself when what I DCA into Hive gets eaten up in value as its price gets lower?

Say, when my value in Hive is 950 HBD, and I put in a monthly DCA of 50 HDB equivalent ... only to see it drop to 950 HBD at the end of the month when Hive prices drop. This means that I just paid 50 HBD for using Hive this month.

Can I take my DCA into Hive as paying a subscription for the services I am getting from Hive?

Is it worth it?

That is the million ... er.. 50 HBD question. :)

So, what services (or benefits) am I getting from using Hive? I list five below for records.

1. Earning
   I get to earn Hive through the curations and postings. Had I not powered up my Hive account, my stake would be smaller and I wouldn't enjoy the corresponding curation rewards. Of course, when my upvote is worth more, I get noticed easier and is good for my post's exposure too.

2. Resource credits
   I get RC or resource credits. With RC, I can post and comment, and carry out fee-less transactions for my games in Hive. ETH gas fees would cost more, I think!

3. Personal growth
   As I write and post, I reflect upon stuff and I learn. My posts in Leo Finance are about Hive and finance. I had learned much since I started using Hive. Writing such posts shaped my thinking and makes my mind clearer about my own financial investments. I think a monthly fee of 50 HBD is nothing when I compare it to the potential loss I would have made had I not straightened my thoughts.

4. Immutable records
   Since I write on Hive, I have a permanent record of my thoughts that is immutable and censorship-resistant. This will be quite priceless when I look back in the future. It will be a kind of entertainment in old age as I read these posts again. Those posts can also potentially be the important inspiration for a new book (if that is still a thing in 2050 and beyond). Paying for the right and service to keep these records is only right.

5. Friendship
   Need I say that I began to make friends on Hive, and that is priceless? The social interaction with some Hivers had been great. Joking and discussing serious investment strategies on Hive with them is what made my Hive experience worthwhile.

So happens I have 5 points above. With the current income level I am enjoying from my day job, 10 HBD for each of the above services is reasonable for me. Not to mention the benefits of DCA into Hive in this bear market can potentially also yield profits in years to come, when the bull returns.

In all honesty, Hive is not one thing, but a lot of things working within the system to make it tick. In fact, the five I listed and I am sure many more services within Hive are also interdependent.

In conclusion, I am fine with treating my DCA into Hive as paying a subscription for the 5 services am I getting from using Hive.
