Rising Star - I Went Against My Own Advice and Regret It

Last week I wrote about why it is best to buy individual cards instead of packs. I explained my thought process but I did not provide any evidence to support my theory. Here is the article:

Well this whole week, I was second guessing myself about purchasing packs instead of individual cards. I always believe that you should provide example regarding your theory otherwise it is just that a theory that is only good for discussion purposes.

I was looking at individual rare cards to purchase and it appeared the cost of all of them was over 7,000 Starbits each. I went against my own better judgement and advice I had been sharing with others about buying individual cards instead of packs and bought two packs and broke down and bought two packs with my earnings from this week.

First Pack Purchased/Opened

Each packs cost 10,000 each so I was able to purchase two packs with my earnings. The first pack I opened has two common instruments and a rare people card.

When I went and selected these three cards on the market to see what I would have paid for them individually, I found that it would have only cost 8,533 Starbits for the three cards and I had paid 10,000 Starbits for the pack. A lose of 1,467 Starbits.

On top of that, one of the instrument cards was already in my collection so now I have two of the i124 Art Deco EP card. The good part about this card is that it has 10 Luck so many it will help me get more temporary drunk fans.

Second Pack Purchased/Opened

When I opened the second pack I purchased, I received three instrument cards, two common and one rare. These three cards were all unique to my collection.

Pulling up the market prices of the cards sort of depressed me. All three cards could be purchased for a total of 3,616 Starbits. Since I bought a pack with 10,000 Starbits, I fell like I way over paid for those three cards.

Earnings This Week

My earnings this week were 28072 Starbits that I used for my purchases. I wait until the end of the week and withdraw the full amount so that I can track my earnings from week to week.

This week was down compared to the 33,113 Starbits I had earned last week.

Purchased Unique Cards

Since I spent 20,000 Starbits of the 28,072 that I had earned on the packs. I decided to purchase additional unique cards to help me feel better about making the wrong choice about buying the packs.

I purchased R247 Eli which is a rare card for 7,796 Starbits. This card provides 120 Fans, 130 Skill, 4 Luck and 4 IM. I can always use more IM for my stats.

I still had a few Starbits left so started looking at the people cards but there were none that I did not already own that I could get for that few Starbits so I went to look through the instrument cards.

I settled on these three unique common instrument cards:

  • i148 Bansuri
  • i149 Bass Recorder
  • i153 RS Porta 8

My Level and Ranking

I did make level 118 this week but only got about halfway to level 119. Still 7 more to go before the next mission opens up for me to run.

Level 118.PNG

I did not run as many mission minutes this week so fell in the rankings to 505. My ranking fell 38 positions from 467 to 505 this week. This week my weekly minutes were 3990 compared to 4690 minutes of missions last week. The weekly minutes is the most fluid and fluctuating stats of all of them.

I think I am going to follow the advice you did not follow and do my next pull as 3 market buys. As a general rule, I think I will follow the 2 common one rare purchase method, but always unuiques and see where this gets me a while. #gamer4life

That sounds like a very good plan. I second guessed myself regarding my prior decision but now have the proof. An Epic or Legendary card would have been great but the % of time those will show up in a card pack are so low that it is like playing the lottery most don't ever win but the ones that do always tell you it is possible. Take care.
