If All Our Wishes Came True!

What do you wish for? If all the other restrictions of life - money, family, societal conventions, whatever - were not a consideration, what do you most wish were true... that currently isn't?

I don't actually expect you to answer that here. But I invite you to consider whether you would actually be happier if your wish came true.

Wishes are funny things!

I've spent a fair amount of time thinking about wishes and what I would want, and much of the time it holds true that the more you think about it, the less you actually want to change.

And our wishes often have two distinct flavors: all the superficialities like a million dollars and a mansion... and the essential, like love and happiness. And most of the time we don't even know what would make us happy!

One of my relatively consistent wishes/desires over the years has been for life to not be so expensive.

"Why don't you just ask for more money?"

Because that only solves the problem of affording to live from my own perspective. If life were not so expensive, more people could afford a less haggard existence. I guess I'm just tired of the huge gaps between those who have nothing and those who seem to have everything.

I don't really need a lot of money, I just need to be able to afford my life. There is definitely a difference!

But when we reflect on these things and wish for something to be different, what are we really wishing for?

I'm mostly wishing for not being so tired, most of the time. I end up tired because the cost of being alive pushes me to spend many hours working and very few hours resting, and it all just seems to be a bit out of balance.

Often, what we want the most turns out to be quite simple!

Will our wishes ever come true? No telling, of course... but it can be a fun speculation.
