Late Night Musings: The End (of 2023) Is in Sight!

Whenever Thanksgiving comes and goes, I have always felt like we have reached the "home stretch" of the year.

December typically feels like a somewhat "useless" month, in the sense that most people tend to be really busy with Holiday stuff so work feels a bit half-assed, and if I haven't made my goals for the year by now it's unlikely that I will.

I find it a little ironic in a way because there was a time when I had a retail store and we would make 35% of our annual sales in month of December, alone.

If I had to "title" 2023 in some way, it feels a lot like a "long distance race." You get more and more tired and it looks like the end is near, but it turns out you've still got miles to go!

Somehow it feels like a lot of recent years have gone like that... I keep hoping that "next year will be better" but that hasn't happened... yet. Last halfway decent year we had was 2017... and 2007, before that.

A good year comes every 10 years is not a particularly great track record!

Maybe my expectations are too high!

Don't really think so. More likely, the playing field just keeps getting bigger, so we end up having to run more to reach the same objective.

I guess I feel pretty good about this blog having evolved into more personal commentaries... rather a lot like my original days of blogging, almost 20 years ago. Actually, more than 20 years ago... time does seem to fly!

I'd like to write more "article-like" posts next year, as a vehicle to help promote the Hive community.

Growing Hive does seem to be a popular topic these days. I sometimes find myself wondering exactly "what" Hive even is. I mean, I like it here but I'm not sure how I would describe it to a stranger. Blog venue? Social media? Crypto project?

And on that light note, it's time for me to sleep!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great remainder of your weekend!

Comments, feedback and other interaction is invited and welcomed! Because — after all — SOCIAL content is about interacting, right? Leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation! I do my best to answer comments, even if it sometimes takes a few days!

December may feel like a useless month to you and I don’t think you are wrong. A lot of people spend lavishly during this period. I just love it because of the fun. It is always fun

Something about the idea of the playing field stretching and the year ending triggered a memory of the "ant on a rubber rope paradox," which is apparently explained in he video linked below. Irrelevant, or inspirational? You be the judge!
