Randomized Late Night Weekend Thoughts!

Sometimes, I find that I just have a jumble of thoughts in my head... that are not even slightly cohesive or connected.

Hence, time for a somewhat random post!

I have touched on this before, but why is it that seemingly rational and intelligent people would rather chase absolutely bizarre theories on impulse than just take five minutes to do a bit of superficial research to establish that what they are clinging to isn't actually anything more than wishful thinking.

Not everything on the planet is the basis for an impossible theory.

Today, someone was telling me how "that incident in Miami" was actually a government cover-up of first contact with aliens. Who were walking around. In a shopping mall.

So I decided to "run it up the flagpole" a bit by actually getting in touch with someone we know... who's not only a former Director of MUFON (the Mutual UFO Network) dealing with reports of UFO sightings, and was also Sheriff of a very populous County.

So here's someone who knows a lot about reports of alien encounters (95% of which are baseless) and a lot about the workings of law enforcement.

And, of course, there's the note to someone who sits in a windowless office near the nation's capital, six levels underground, surrounded by banks of computers that put a Google server farm to shame.

You learn a lot about our world when you ask the right questions of the right people.

Mostly that things are a lot simpler and more obvious than most people probably think... while at the same time also being infinitely more complex and mysterious than most of us could possibly imagine.

Anyway, the "incident in Miami" had a lot more to do with "potential counterterrorism" procedures in a tourist zone... and cops earning salary bonuses... than with aliens.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the idea of UFOs and extraterrestrial life, but that doesn't mean I assume every light in the sky is a flying saucer rather than an airplane!

A little discernment and critical thinking every now and then would be a really cool thing...

Thanks for stopping by and have a great remainder of your weekend!

Ummm, the U.S. school system doesn’t encourage thinking for yourself and hasn’t for many decades…

Sadly, you are quite right about that. "Multiple guess" rules the day... thinking is out. Very sad...
