Twitter Always Bored the Heck Out of Me!
Confession time: I made a Twitter account very shortly after Twitter became a thing!
I tried to be excited about it, but I think I did this primarily because I was convinced by a number of people around me that Twitter was going to be "the next big thing." And, in some strange case of FOMO, I didn't want to not be part of that movement from the start.
And pretty much from the start, I struggled to figure out why anybody would actually be excited about being able to spew stuff online in 144 characters or less... as it was at the time. You can't really say anything other than maybe "I farted" in 144 characters or less... and who the hell needs to know whether you farted or not?
I have subsequently tried to give it my very best shot to like and use Twitter, but even after all these years - and I have an account with probably 1500 followers - and sporadic attempts to be active that all have ultimately led to nothing more than being incredibly bored with it.
But some seem to think it's the coolest thing since sliced bread.
I guess I'm just not that kind of person.
I guess more than a few people will probably agree that if I have something to say I usually have quite a lot to say about it and if I don't have something to say, I just shut up and don't try to actually make something out of nothing.
Peripherally related, I still blame Facebook for pretty much killing my former favorite niche on the net which was "social blogging" way back when. Along Came Facebook and let everybody say what they needed to say with just a smiley and a couple of pictures rather than actually saying anything real that you can sink your metaphorical teeth into.
In some way, it always felt like Facebook brought out the worst in people and stood out like a shining example of people behaving badly.
In some ways, it all seemed to underscore the fact that I have typically not have the same interests as the majority of the world, and the majority is interested in stuff I could care less about. I'm a writer and writers write. Very few writers worth their soul are likely to give much time to a medium where they can only get a couple of lines in.
Unless, of course, their specialty happens to be haiku.
My specialty is definitely not haiku!
I know there are a lot of people who are welcoming the advent of short format content in the Hive ecosystem, but I'm not one of them, I have to admit. Most of the time, I just don't see the point. But, to each their own!
So I think I'll just stick to writing essays. But I might promote them on twitter....
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week ahead!
Comments, feedback and other interaction is invited and welcomed! Because — after all — SOCIAL content is about interacting, right? Leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation! I do my best to answer comments, even if it sometimes takes a few days!
Greetings bloggers and social content creators! This article was created via PeakD, a blogging application that's part of the Hive Social Content Experience. If you're a blogger, writer, poet, artist, vlogger, musician or other creative content wizard, come join us! Hive is a little "different" because it's not run by a "company;" it operates via the consensus of its users and your content can't be banned, censored, taken down or demonetized. And that COUNTS for something, in these uncertain times! So if you're ready for the next generation of social content where YOU retain ownership and control, come by and learn about Hive and make an account!

I can write haiku,
but detest Twitter's demands
on my attention.
I can see how the platform serves as a way to share links to other content and provide quick updates, but the feedback loop and attention demand rankles. Facebook was bad enough on that front. I much prefer a forum or blog ecosystem, which is why I remain active on HIVE.
Hahaha
I think we are the same thing and another thing is that what people mostly talk about or trends on Twitter especially for my country are not things I like or can relate to
Also, most people are violent on there and that’s why I have chosen to leave it
It’s been long I used Twitter for the purpose of fun
Twitter I have always had for my team Rangers. The banter on there is second to none.
Yup, and this is why I left. FB makes the world seem, and so to become, very ugly. Never could get into twitter.
And I love to write haiku. People read and support that stuff on hive! Joy!
