We Shall Now Start the New Year With a System Update!
Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope you had a fun and encouraging celebration and feel ready to go forth into 2024 with a sense of renewal, purpose and perhaps even optimism!
I took this photo in Joshua Tree National Park some years ago... quite an old tree, growing in nothing more than a crack in solid granite... it reminds me that life WILL find a way.
I had "intentions" of sitting down and writing something earlier today, but instead found my computer in the middle of a system update, so I just let it be.
We had a pretty nice sunny day today, and later I was sitting out on our back porch and thought I might start something on my phone, instead... but it insisted that I needed to perform a system update, as well.
Perhaps it was the Universe's way of telling me to just give it a rest!

Not a bad idea, really!
We went to eat Chinese food for New Year's Eve, as we have done for a few years, now. Even though we got there quite late — a little before 9:00 — they were happy to serve us, and kept welcoming people all the time we were there. I think they knew they were pretty much "the only thing going" in our little town, after 8:00 on a Sunday... New Year's Eve, notwithstanding.
Then we headed on to a local "boutique hotel" that rather surprisingly had allowed a crew in to transform it into a club venue for the night... with multiple stages with entertainment and three DJs spinning tunes in different rooms... uncommonly worthy for a sleepy little town. And well attended... aka packed.
It was really too dark for photography... Mrs. Denmarkguy (in her neon-glo wig) ordering us shots from the bar.
Life is Turbulent... That IS Life!
What will 2024 bring?
"Change" seems like the most obvious answer, because change is inevitable, as is the fact that we live in a turbulent world.
Imagine being in the area of Japan where you would have woken up to tremors and destruction, as a major earthquake serves as your welcome to a new year. I feel for those poor people... what a way to start off.
I smiled to myself — in a quietly ironic sort of way — as the first thing in my morning was our cat Shadow full-on stepping one foot smack into the center of my coffee cup, sending coffee everywhere. Fortunately, the coffee wasn't too hot...
"Mishaps" are all a matter of perspective, if you know what I mean?
Time to Slow it Down...
After the two "System Update" reminders, I found myself actually enjoying the process of just "giving up" on the idea of getting the new year off to a running start.
Maybe we just care too much about doing... doing... what, exactly?
I think back to a time when I worked in the IT industry, and one of my 2nd line managers pointed out that the world will not fall apart if we allow a house of cards to fall. Someone will come along, notice the cards have fallen, pick them up, and start building the house back on.
Life finds a way... as the top photo of this post always reminds me.
Happy New Year, and may your life "find a way" to unfold in the way you need it to!

Hehe that was some glowing wig Mrs Denmarkguy had!
Happy New Year😁
A welcome message!
Best wishes for a as-it-comes 2024 😍
Life certainly does find a way. We’re all caught up in the could be’s, we forget to embrace the are’s. Looks like talk had an awesome night. I’m sure a system reboot was needed for y’all too!
This year is also going to bring some changes about me and it will be in a positive way though
I hope I achieve all I want
Perfect way to start the new year 😁
