Saturday Savers No Buy Month - Feb 24 Saving Challenge
Hello Hivers, How are you there? I am fine here and I hope you are all fine there too.
It's been a long time since I wrote normally in HIVE blog. I am not getting any free time recently because I have not in good conditions while one of my team resigned which cause me to cover up his spot. Well, things are not getting better but I am getting used to this condition.
This time I am writing about #saturdaysavers No Buy Month here, although this is not the post which I have in my draft, I will feel bad if I miss out posting anything about this no buy month again. I hope @shanibeer could give a good feedback on the comment below, incase my writing goes out from the track line.
No Buy Month, as it is named that way, it means we won't buy anything this month... Ok no food, no drink, we are die then... good game and good bye
It's not like that actually, what it means that we try not to buy stuff or spend something other than our essentials living or on any extras. This event actually not a life style but more on a challenge to ourselves, maybe similar to fasting, which we hold ourselves not do on a certain set of period. Mostly some communities hold this challenge for a month, same as Saturday Savers Club.
About the basic needs or essentials, everyone has different understanding. We do not set a specific rules here, because every people has their own conditions. For example my self, I am one of those a sandwich generation, so most of my spending will be for my elderly parents and some nephews.
Ok lets get down to the main part, I will not talk too much about the concept or theory, we do that later on other opportunity. Here is my no buy month:
My No Buy Month Progam
No Buy List
This is the list that at any cost I won't put any money on them
- Any kind of treats. Cookies, Cake, Candies, and more. All no buy
- No new clothes even for replacement
- No new furnitures and renovations.
- No gifts and celebrating anything which end up with extra cost.
- No coffee take out from any stall. I made my own from home, an instant one and put it on the tumbler.
- no recreational such as dine out, going to movie, or buying games on steam.
Allowed Expenses
- eating out - with budgeted max at $2 per day or $12 a week.
- Vitamins, medicine, and some healthy supplements budgeted max at $30 a week.
- Treats in Work, $20 a week.
- House keepings and toiletries.
- Daily and Weekly food for family. (I pay catering service for elderly meal)
- Gasoline, electrical bills and phone bills
- Tokens and Crypto as investment, such as $DBOND and $LGN (wait, why does it sound like a promotional to those project LoL)
- Stationary, printing materials and others (I do some works at home)
For me, joining a No Buy Month is just doing almost normally I have been doing, which I only spend money on the essentials or basic needs only. Spending only on food, utilities, shelter, transportation and basic social need (internet).
Honestly I have had these challenges several times years ago, and they did not give me extra notable saving... because basically I am a stingy minimalist person. I plan and note everything about my own finance activities. It is not because I am good at this, its just like a disease on me for being stingy and hoarder.
But we'll see later this month. I will make an update next week, if I have the proper time needed.
GO CHALLENGE YOURSELF
Eventhough I have said this challenge won't do me any good, I still prefer to endorse this one. For you who haven't known this before, or have known for some time but never try it before... please Go Challenge Yourself now.
It is good as a challenge, to discipline yourself and to experience the "hunger" of not buying something while you can afford them easily. At least go try to finish one month once in your life time
CLOSURE
That's all for today update of my No Buy Month... I will try to update this challenge next week too.
