Crownrend : To raid, or not to raid, that is the question

We are two weeks into Crownrend and tactics are starting to take shape, changes have been made to the game and things are getting exciting.

Obviously its still early but the big players have made strides out in front with the purchase of chests providing all manner of items to improve their stats - I'm still aways from purchasing chests so I'll be looking at what stats we can improve to protect our unclaimed stashes from raiders.

Understanding how each stat affects raiding is essential to working out which stat to upgrade and who you can and cant attempt raids against. There are six stats relevant to raiding, three offensive and three defensive - Strength Vs Toughness, Speed vs Tactics and Morale vs Leadership.

Speed vs Tactics
For a raid to be successful it needs to firstly avoid being intercepted. The possibility of a raid being intercepted is calculated by taking Speed and deducting Tactics for example

image.pngimage.png

An army with a tactics of 3 raids a kingdom whose army has a speed of 6 has a 7.5% chance of being intercepted (6-3 = 3 * 2.5% = 7.5%), the maximum this can be is 75%, which would require a difference of 30 between the 2 stats.

If the raid is successfully intercepted the defending kingdom steals 5% to 25% of the attackers unclaimed DENAR.

Strength vs Toughness
So you have managed to get to the defending kingdom without getting intercepted.

The battle between the two armies can be swift, it comes down to a straight shoot out between the two stats.

An army with a higher toughness will win out, so as long as your army strength exceeds the defenders strength you will steal between 5% and 80% of their unclaimed DENAR.

Morale vs Leadership
There is also the chance of grinding your opposing army to dust, when you are so efficient in destroying their kingdom that their army is routed and the spoils of war are there for the taking.

If the above stats met on the battlefield there would be zero chance of a critical hit, but as with Speed vs Tactics every point of difference gives 2.5% chance (max 50%) of scoring a critical hit and stealing double the DENAR won in the battle. This can go as high as 100% of unclaimed DENAR so having strong Leadership is important to defend your kingdoms coffers.

Now I have managed to save and upgrade my mine i will be looking to defend my stash so Toughness, Speed and Leadership will be priorities in upgrades while i work on building a bigger vault and mine - rinse and repeat...

Hope this helped and if you see me on the battlefield you remember that and raid someone else!

Happy gaming!
