Thorelliola ensifera

I got a little suprise when I turn some old log in search of mushroom, I noticed something was running up and down. It was a small jumping spider which was in the hunt mode, but that day it was its rather unlucky day. Because I stopped it track and its hunting route so that I could get some shots of this beautiful spider.

At first I thought it was a kind of an Adanson's House Jumper, also a type od a jumping spider that I usually find near the house because of its color a little bit similar. But then a little Google search proved that I was wrong.

This is the Thorelliola ensifera or also known as the Sword-bearing Thorelliola. Kind of a scary name for this beautiful spider isn't it?

Look at the eys of this spider below, I don't think you will agree the name would fit his spider, but apparently there is a part of its body the resemble a sword, which unfortunately i could not photograph. maybe next time I can get a better shot of its sword.

Most of the body are black except two yellow big patch of yellow on its back. You can also see a few smaller yellow dots at the end of its abdomen.

And just like most of the jumping spider, this spider is also a hunter, hunting for its prey which is mostly another smaller insects.
