Weevil in action

My first Idea was to find some mushrooms in the open lot near my house. It was still rainy season, and I noticed that there were a few logs and branches were left there some had been engulfed with green bushes, so my guess that I would find a lot of mushrooms there.

But I found something different there, but also a nice finding because not very often find and photograph them. when I approached those logs and branches, I noticed that there were so many small holes in them. It looked like something or someone had bored it up.

On a closer look, I found these weevils who were munching on those logs and branches, not sure what they were looking for. It is so fascinating that this small animal can make holes in hard branches. The wonder of nature isn't it?

Here you can see the head of the weevil on the branch, and you can also see there are some wood bits on its teeth or fangs. I have never known that they have that big teeth on their snout.

The color and also pattern that they have on their body also perfectly fit with the bark of those branches or logs, you need to get a closer look into the logs to find them, or they will go unnoticed.

Look at all the holes that they dug up on this log, this little guy must have been working hard to be able to make that many holes on that hard log.
