Frank Sinatra music career/songs and 10k Starbits giveaway
"New York, New York Theme" (also known as "New York, New York") is a song written for the 1977 Martin Scorsese film New York, New York. The song was written by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. In the film, Liza Minnelli, who had the honor of performing at the Olympic Stadium during the 1984 Summer Olympics, performed the song accompanied by 24 pianos and strobe lights.
The most famous version is the one recorded by singer Frank Sinatra on his album Trilogy: Past Present Future (1980) from 1979, and since then it has remained a classic in his repertoire. Sinatra recorded the song again, this time as a duet with Tony Bennett on his 1993 album Duet.
The single reached number 30 in June 1980 and became one of his last hits on the international charts. Sinatra made two studio recordings of the song. one in 1981 (for NBC) and another in 1993 (for Capitol Records).
An interesting fact is that the lyrics of Sinatra's version are different from Ebb's original song. This caught the attention of the lyricist, who was surprised by some of the phrases that were not in the original and was particularly impressed by Sinatra. That means you can impress fans all over the world.
