FedEx Sucks: A FedEx Saga of them F'in Around With My $1K Package
I rarely complain about services, even when things go wrong. I usually let it go—even at restaurants when my order’s messed up. But FedEx really pushed my limits this time.
I’ve been waiting over a week for a package—heavy too, around 90 lbs—that requires a signature because it costs around $950. The delivery was scheduled for today, so no issue there. However, I had specifically requested a phone call upon delivery so I could notify someone at home to sign for it, since I’m at work. I do get push notifications, but they're always late and don't help in the moment.
Yesterday, they attempted an early delivery without notifying me. I figured maybe the person at home didn’t hear the knock. The driver left a note and a photo, so I appreciated that and moved on, trusting they'd try again as the delivery notice said. Just to be safe, I updated the instructions to “knock very hard.”
Then today—the actual delivery date—two people are home, one in direct contact with me. Even our little watchdog, Slushy the man eating Chihuahua (don’t worry, he’s all bark), was outside. No call. No real attempt. Instead, I get another notification saying no one was home, along with a photo of my dog staring at the driver (the person who took the photo) and a truck parked in the driveway. Ironically, that photo proves someone was there with the damn TRUCK! It wasn't painted in camo, so clearly they could see it. LOL
To top it off, one of the people inside went out to wave the driver down right after they left. They hadn’t heard a knock either, and the living room is connected to the front door.
Seeing that photo, knowing there were people and a dog visibly present, and still being told “no one was home”—that really set me off. Especially after giving clear instructions and relying on a service I trusted to communicate properly. It’s just ridiculous.
When I got home, I immediately filed a complaint during a call with a customer service rep—likely from an Indian call center. She was pleasant, honestly the only positive part of the entire experience.
A few hours after the failed delivery, they tried again. This time, the driver actually knocked.
According to the person I asked to receive the package, the driver gave a quick knock and immediately walked back to the truck. They had to yell to get the driver to turn around.
What kind of service is that? Now, for the finale. The package itself looks worn down and beaten. Parts of the package are broken into. Also, I'm not there to assess the damage of my order. Hopefully, the box is the only thing that's damaged and not what's inside. I guess... I'll find out tomorrow.
