The One-Drop Rule Plagues America

I'm having an interesting discussion about racial structures, Latinos and how the US tries to force immigrants into their white vs black narrative.

In my opinion, the "one-drop rule" has been plaguing American society since it's inception and it's what is driving racial tension to this day. When it comes to Latinos, I feel as though Latinos are shaking up this debate as progressives attempt to convince Latinos to strip themselves of their racial standards and adopt this white vs black mentality. This debate will continue on and will likely lead to strong division in the Latino community—in the short-term.

Now, I think this debate will shake up the political debate in the USA too. Democrats, especially progressives, rely on racial talking points to convince voters that Republicans are racist or hate minorities. Yet, when Democrats show favoritism towards multi-generational black Americans, they will likely alienate other dark skin people from different ethnicities and cultures (including people coming from the African continent). I doubt they can rely on the black vs white narrative as mixed race children become more recognized in US politics.
