Some kind of nut

avatar

. (2).JPG

You're a nut, I know you are because you're human. This doesn't mean you're a nut right at the present moment but I'm pretty sure you have been a nut in the past or will be in the future...most humans have been, are or will be right? I think so anyway; it's a human thing to do, think and say dumb things that may ultimately lead to one qualifying for nut-status' humans are fallible and flawed.

I've been a nutbag over the years. On each occasion maybe I didn't think they were dumb things to do or think however there's more than a few that I knew were dumb in the moment but I proceeded to do them anyway; partly what makes us human is the fact that we don't do everything right every time, we learn from it though and that's how we progress.

Thinking back to when I was younger, I was regularly doing idiotic things that usually ended in pain, embarrassment, shame, being derided, chastised or even arrested (yep, that too, but only once). Some of those things needed to be done but in hindsight so many were monumentally dumb and avoidable...but I'd not change a thing. Being some kind of nut helped me learn valuable lessons that stuck with me and, of course, I achieved a few things here and there along the way which came directly from channeling my inner nut, abject failure and the re-evaluation and mindset shift that resulted.

Anyway, I thought I'd put it out there to see if any of y'all would admit to also being some kind of nut and share something stupid, dangerous, rash or thoughtless that would qualify you as a nut. If you have then feel free to do that in the comments and don't forget to talk about how it worked out, what positives or negatives came from your nutbagginess.

Also, this photo is shit which is why I posted in the shit photography community. It's...well, it's just a picture of a nut. But here's the thing, I have three billion and thirteen bonus points in reserve for anyone who can tell me what this nut is doing, what it's fastening/attached to and why. Also, @ksteem, you're banned from answering for quite obvious reasons.

The most nut thing I did wanted to do was hoping to travel to Hivefest at Bangkok. I was broke as hell, had not spoken english in who knows how long and I never been outside of Lithuania before. So traveling to the other side of the world seems like completly sane and reasonable thing to do...not.

Haha, that's a good one. I think if you'd gone you'd have been able to communicate ok, but being broke...yep, that'll cause an issue.

That nut has to be something gun-related, it seems like a fastening nut maybe for a scope, that's my guess.

Hmm, a pretty good, and quite educated, guess. Let's see if anyone else wants to have a try.

I'm crazy and I admit it all the time... one of the craziest things I did was say yes to climbing a dangerous mountain when I was 18 just because I liked a boy. I didn't know how to climb, I didn't know anything about anything but there I was .... my family almost died. But everything went well, the people who went, including the boy, had climbed many times... I didn't... I slipped several times and ended up with my ass on the ground hahahaha.

That worn nut....esta... could be from a weapon or a hand tool that is holding something...

You certainly are.

So, you climbed a mountain for a boy...did it impress him and after the climb did you...You know.

That worn nut....esta... could be from a weapon or a hand tool that is holding something...

Hmm, I'm looking for specifics, I can't give away three billion bonus points for vague guesses you know! 😁

That guy wasn't worth it... if I impressed him... I don't know, but you know, I was crazy! hahahaha And I still am!

Well... it belongs on a gun, it's not very new and maybe it's ready to fire. I like to guess things hahahaha because it's fun!

He was probably really sad you didn't end up liking him. Too bad for him.

I've definitely been a nut in the past. Some of the stupid things I have done and said are the same things that haunt me to this day. I mean nothing really serious, but when I am alone with my thoughts and I think back to certain things it's always the same embarrassing moments I wish I could take back where I was a nut for sure.

Yeah, I get it, the embarrassing aspects, it's happened to all of us...but we learn from such things too, and that's not a bad thing.

For sure, never a bad thing!

I've done some very stupid things, but fortunately I have a terrible memory and can't recall them:)

As to the the function of your nut, I couldn't even hazard a guess. They all look the same to me. Show me a bolt though, I can give you chapter and verse.

Sometimes it's best that way, forgetting the nutty stuff we've done. A selective memory helps there too, filter out the really bad stuff.

I'm a pretty nutty guy. Ate Groundnut while not reading for an exam I had not even registered for.

When I reached the hall, the lecturer looked at me like I was nuts..

Despite my nuttiness, if I was to guess what your nut is doing...

Well, I just could not😂😂

Hi Galen, first of all I don't have an answer to the question. As to whether I have been a nut at some point in my life, I confess that for a few years I took the saying “die young and make a nice punk corpse” quite seriously. And I've certainly done things I regret.

Those few years later marked my life. Sometimes to my “bad”, I was “late” to some things like college. And, on the other hand, that “being late” has shaped me as a person. I got my degree working a night shift as a security guard. I got it in 6 years, which is below the average of students who study at a distance. I think that from something negative I was able to make a life that I am now satisfied with.

Best regards.

It's good to see ones efforts in a good light, to celebrate them; what you've done in gaining your degree while working and through distance is a credit to you.

The stupidest thing I do in my life is to follow my heart and also the smartest thing... I don't know how it manages to go almost always (not to be absolute) against reason. But I've certainly accumulated a couple of lessons. What life has in store for me in the future, what I decide to do... whether to change and stick more to reason, it will be seen.

That seems a fair statement, and those lessons you've accumulated will all generally help to make a better future.

I have done some crazy, dangerous, risky things in my life, but the fact is that I am here with you now and that I got out of those crazy things alive. sometimes to help others in need, sometimes to do something for myself, I ran into various situations and "put my head in a bag". almost like in the song of one of our singer-songwriters:" When I get beaten I don't cry I was beaten and I beat because then, then I was young".

As for this nut in the picture, I'd say it's on your weapon, probably on the optic and fine adjustment mounting rail...

Hmm, good guess indeed...let me see if anyone else gets more specific, then I'll stand having out billions of bonus points.

Something crazy?

To launch myself on inline skates down a swooping street knowing that a few meters away was the main avenue where many cars were passing by. I tried to brake and the speed only slowed down but did not stop, a very timely tree was in the right place for me, a large and thick branch was sticking out and I had the impulse to grab it, as I was going at high speed I had a hard fall that left my whole body sore and my arm scratched, but fortunately I hit a good tree and the cars did not hit me.

I walked through the streets in pain and with a face full of dirt, I did not know the latter until I got home and my mother asked me why I had a dirty face, I thought of hiding the incident I had but before the evidence I had no choice but to confess.

This could have ended badly; it's not every day one says, I'd rather slam into a tree! But a tree is probably better than a car right?

Thanks for sharing.

That tree sure saved me from something much worse, it was a big and dangerous recklessness but I was just a teenager.

Now I do crazy things much calmer, like talking to my electrical appliances and thanking them for keeping working 🤫 despite the power outages we suffer in my country all the time.

Yeah, that nut, (unlike nuts like you and I that look magnificent), often looks somewhat lackluster.
