The band was formed by:

The Eagles were formed in early 1971 when Linda Ronstadt and her then manager John Boyle hired studio musicians Dongil and Green Fray and moved from Texas to Los Angeles with her band Shine which was produced by Kenny Rogers and Clean Freud. She traveled from Michigan where she had formed the band. The summer of 1971 and some time later both also participated in the recording
of their album.

But not long after being their backers they created their own band and for this they invited musicians Bernie Leadon who played guitar and mandolin and Randy Meisner on bass to participate in the project. Meisner had worked in the band of the Flying Brothers. In June 1972 they had their debut album ready, entitled EAGLES, with a mix of rock and country, it went straight to number 3 in the top 40 with its first single, "Take Iris," a song composed by Ben Frost and his friend Jackson Browne, and later reached number 12 and launched the Eagles to stardom. The second single taken from the album reached positions 9 and 22 respectively and Woods debuted by rescuing the southern sound, mixing it with a touch of guitar and a soft touch of rock.
