Back to blogging
Hello again, Hive. It has been over three months since my last blog post. I took a vacation from blogging while events in my life were piling up. Now I am finally on a much needed vacation and slowly easing back into Hive life again.
I've been enjoying nature more intensively the last few weeks. Especially the locations close to home. Lucky me, I live in a little village with a beautiful sand beach to the river Weser. This is actually a location where other people come to during their holidays, we have a lot of holiday apartments nearby and during the sunny days many day tourists come here.
During my absence I kept the hug-bot alive as best as I could. Yet I did not do any further development. I had to keep focusing on other things. In June I was absence from home as well for two weeks for a work project. Of course the bot decided to break down during that time and I had no way to recover it remotely. So installing a VPN connection between my cellphone and my home network will be the next thing to do. That should ensure I can reboot the raspberry pi and restart the bot if the need arises from any location.
When I came back and brought it back up it had to go through almost a week of worth of Hive blocks to catch up. Luckily I kept the log open on my screen to have a glimpse at the recovery every now and then. I realized that the daily limits are based on the bot action. That led to some "no token sent, daily limit reached" messages even though people used it only once or twice per day. But the catching up of 7 days lead to over ten tokens wanting to be sent during that one day. I caught that soon enough I hope and temporarily changed the configuration to practically no limits during the catch up phase. I am sorry for any inconvenience my absence brought to this project during that time.
With the start of April I had to visit several union conferences and workers council seminars. My five year old son is a huge fan of the German television show "Die Maus" and always gave me his plush toy mascot of that show to travel with me. The connection being (for those not familiar with the show), that it is an educational show for children and seminars are (supposed to be) educational for adults.
While most of the conferences did not involve an over night stay, the seminars lasted a week.
In April our local wage and salary union contract ran out and since then we are in the process of strikes and negotiations. As chairman of the local worker's council and one of the three local union reps I am also a member of the committee that handles those negotiations and organizes the strike activities. That took a lot of my time since I am not allowed to do union stuff during working hours (except for the negotiation part).
We just entered our summer pause yesterday with most of the workers (including me) being on vacation now. So strikes don't make sense at this time and further negotiations being postponed until mid August.
So now I have time to catch up on what I missed. First of all, I have some debts that need to be paid. Three months of paying HSBI to the ThreeTuneTuesday winners. Starting next Tuesday I plan on participating again.
Afterwards I will write my next post on the Collatz conjecture. There are still a lot of notes that on it that need to get organized and put together into articles.
And of course there is my Splinterlands activity. Taking part in the weekly posting challenges should also at some point be back on the agenda.
That's a lot to ease back in to. Yet I am confident that over the next few days I will achieve these goals and get more and more active on the chain again.
Thank you for reading, I hope you have a good day.
I'm about ten days away from ending my own hiatus.
hope you get back in the groove nice and easy

Oh, that looks interesting. I'll keep it in mind, surely there will be a "Oh, that'll make a nice short story" moment in my life every now and then. 😄

Thank you very much.
Indeed, very busy, but also fulfilling.
I don't mind the seminars, I actually enjoy them since they help me a lot doing the coworkers council and union rep job.
