A week of "forced" Relaxation

"The symphony of nature reminds us that even in moments of waiting, there is harmony and beauty all around."

Yesterday I already told you about the long waiting time for my new PC, and of course, I was disappointed. Of course, I wanted to shout that PC at me. Yes, it was frustrating… But despite that, I also knew there wasn't much I could do about it! After all, I don't have the power to make PostNL work faster, and I also don't have the power to pick up my package from storage somewhere. Although I would have loved to have done the latter, it was impossible. And for me, there was nothing to do but wait for the moment to arrive.

Now you can sit and complain in such a situation, but that will not help anyone. And it's not that I have nothing to do without a PC. On the contrary, the time I usually spend on my PC I could now spend on other things. And my dogs certainly weren't ungrateful for that. They thoroughly enjoyed that extra time. I was outside with them all day. Where I usually spend the morning hours on the PC, it was now immediately in the morning with the dogs outside. Into the garden to play with furry friends and enjoy everything that grows and blooms there. And well, when I had so much time, I couldn't resist grabbing my camera and doing some photo experiments.

Normally I find backgrounds in the garden often disturbing elements. And I wanted to see if I could do something about that!

We will need many Poppies

Let's start with the poppy. I think it is one of the most beautiful flowers. and they always give me a happy summer feeling. The poppy belongs to the Papaveraceae family and is known for its bright red color.

What I also find special about the poppy is its symbolism. There are still cultures where the poppy is associated with sleep, peace, and remembrance. The fact that a poppy is associated with commemoration has everything to do with the First World War. Then poppies grew on the battlefields. And that led to John McCrae writing his poem "In Flanders Fields". Since that time, the poppy has become a symbol to commemorate the fallen. You would think that such a poem reminds us how important it is to cherish peace so that everyone may enjoy a world without conflict. Unfortunately, the reality is very different, and many more poppies will be needed to continue to remember the fallen.

Beautiful blue is not ugly!

Another lovely plant in our garden is the borage, also known as the cucumber herb. This herb is known for its bright blue flowers and its refreshing cucumber-like taste. Borage not only has culinary uses but is also valued for its medicinal properties. It is known for processing into borage oil. And this oil does wonders for our skin. In addition, it can also be a good natural tool to reduce PMS in women. In addition, I also find it a very fascinating plant to see, and with the exceptional blue color, it is a feast for the eyes. That is also not entirely unimportant.

Our garden is home to many birds

After I had made a cup of tea and walked through the garden to see what I wanted to photograph next, my eye fell on a young sparrow that seemed to be posing on top of the fence. He waited patiently until I had taken my camera off the table and set it up, and I thought for the umpteenth time how cozy all those chirping sparrows are in our garden. Almost every day you can enjoy a range of birds that consider our garden as their home. They flutter around and create a happy atmosphere with their merry chirping. Not only sparrows, by the way, we also see great tits and blue tits almost every day. We see robins every now and then. This year we see Blackbirds in our garden for the first time, and we suddenly have a striking number of crows this year that seem to be having a great time here.

Messengers between two worlds

Of course, there is also something to be said about the Crow. Many people always get a kind of shudder when they see a Crow, and they are not loved birds by everyone. I get it, and I don't get it. Because of the association made with Crows as messengers between the worlds of the living and the dead, I can understand. But if you look closely, Crows are truly beautiful birds. They are intelligent and really seem to have a certain kind of wisdom about them. And then again I don't get it at all that many people don't like Crows. In any case, we fully enjoy the presence of the Crows. They may not be as colorful as, say, a Blue Tit, but the fascinating personality and apparent intelligence of the Crows intrigue me enormously.

Slow down

All in all, despite the long wait for the new PC, it was still a fantastic week. I really used the opportunity to slow down, to kick myself off the 'online' life and to live a little more in the reality of my daily environment. Of course I have made time to consciously enjoy everything that grows and blooms in our garden. I enjoyed being outside with the dogs. And this week has, as it were, recharged me with new motivation and energy. The fact that the weather was fantastic last week certainly helped.

And now that the new PC has arrived, it's time to enjoy an experience I've never seen before in the speed with which I now edit my photos.
