this is our weekly interview post. We want to sharpen your senses for HIVE musicians, that´s why we made it our goal to interview a new musician every week.
There are a tremendous amount of very talented musicians on our HIVE Blockchain. Too many of them are going unnoticed. We at HMVF and Blocktunes are here to change that. Our interview series will let you get a look behind the curtain of some of these artists. Their music, their process, and their goals. Let us come together to support the music of HIVE.

Of course these posts will also have the purpose of collecting funds for HMVF, to be able to create as many music videos for these awesome artists as possible. 🎵

This weeks musician is Black Eye Butterfly (@blackibutterfly)

Black Eye Butterfly has been on the Blockchain for a long time, and I personally (Raven) feel like I´ve been knowing him forever. You might recognize his voice from some of the game sounds in Rising Star, which he spoke. 😄 Black Eye Butterfly is well known for his comedic touch in his songs.

First off, how did the artist name Black Eye Butterfly come about?

Well I was recording with an old buddy back in, I believe 2004. Just a couple of “punks” back then. He needed a name to save a tune.. I was wearing a black sweater, so he said Black Ivy.. I liked it right away.. That was my new name for a quite a while until my oldest Daughter, 9 at the time, wanted to jam with Dad. So, being First Nations she was given the name Memminguas, which means Little Butterfly by her Great GrandMother. So we added her name to the mix and boom.. Black Eye Butterfly.. Of course she went on to do other things in life as she grew up but I liked the name, so I carried on with it..

How would you describe your sound?

70’s multi genre.. I’m all over the place but I guess I have a distinct sound they say.

Which artists have had the greatest influence on you?

I was big into The Beatles back in the day.. I would say they started me on my journey but really, I think my main influence is Nature.

I’m a Dad.. I love Trees.. That’s why I have “Half Day Disease”

What is your songwriting process? How does a song come together for Black Eye Butterfly?

Its different every time really.. Sometimes I wake up with it.. Sometimes in the shower.. Anywhere and anytime.. Then I just get started

What do you hope that the listener takes away from your music?

I hope I get through to People to Love Nature and their fellow Humans and other creatures. And of course to fight for your God Given freedoms.

How do you think being a part of the Hive blockchain will help your music career?

It already has.. I have met so many great People through the Years and have taken part in quite a few fun projects with them.

Share a tip for other hard-working artists out there searching for success in the new music industry?

Success is being happy with yourself. Don’t worry about trying to write a hit.. Enjoy the moments.

What does the future hold for Black Eye Butterfly?

More Songs. More Friends. The rest is anyones guess. I do know I’ll be part of the Hive family for the duration
