Brawl Report : Playing Frey 10 (Silver Level Untamed and Chaos) for the first time in ages. Our Top Guild takes 1st place (again) and Top Brawlers get 2k $THGAMING!

THGaming Brawlers - 1st place in Tier 2 (4th week in a row)

So my 'perfect run' has ended with 2 losses this week in my Brawl. I usually play Goldfoil Freys but this week I took on Frey 10 (Silver Untamed & Chaos Legion) so was a bit out of my comfort zone, but still managed 5 Wins and 2 losses. Yeah 2 of the Wins were from 'Opponent Fled' results, but I'm sure I would have won those anyway, haha!

@doomz is my 2nd Splinterlands account, which plays Brawls in THGaming 2 Guild, where I managed to get 4 Wins 2 Losses. I usually do better on my alt account so not super happy, I'll have to try harder this week! Meanwhile the THG Brawlers dominated again...

Since dropping back down to Tier 2 Brawls in THGaming Brawlers Guild we are getting much higher placings in our Brawls, finishing 1st most weeks (our lowest place is 2nd so far). The Card rentals to achieve these high finishes are also a lot less expensive than playing in Tier 3, and there is a bit less pressure on the players. This week I moved into Frey 10 (from 15) as there were a lot more battles there, so more chance of getting Wins for THGaming Brawlers. We also welcomed two new members into the guild : @mario03 and @krassesopfer. Hope to see some great Brawl performances from you guys!

My Frey-10 Brawl Performance

This week I was again able to win 5 out of 7 Brawls. The competition is a bit easier in Tier 2 but I'm still up against accounts with levelled Summoners and Monsters, so I do rent a number of cards to make myself more competitive.

BRAWL DETAILS : I played Brawl Frey 10 (Silver Level, Untamed and Chaos). I currently own 423 Splinterlands Cards in the Chaos and Untamed sets usable in this Frey assingment.

Reviewing Three Brawl Battles - Frey 10

Most readers don't have time to go through overly detailed posts, so I will summarize three battles below : 2 wins and 1 loss. If you have any questions or observations feel free to reply in the comments.

Jim-Crypto - Brawl Battle Review 1 (Win)

25Mana - RULESET : Born Again, What doesn't kill you (Enrage)
Summoner Used : OBSIDIAN *3
MVP : QUORA TOWERSHEAD *2 (see below) using Born Again (Battle Ruleset) and FUNGUS FLINGER'S Martyr Ability to great affect!

In this battle SPIRIT HOARDER (Lvl 2, Legendary) was the only Rental in my lineup. His TRIAGE ability (Backline heal) was instrumental in keeping GOBLIN PSYCHIC alive from SNEAK attacks.

THE FIGHT : Good old QUORA TOWERSHEAD almost never lets me down, and as soon as I saw the BORN AGAIN ruleset, I knew FUNGUS FLINGER *4 and QUORA would make a great combo, relying on FUNGUS to die and boost QUORA'S stats twice before she even got to the front row. 'I wrote a detailed post about using Quora with Martyr cards, so check it out here for more info on this strategy: 'Quora + Martyr, the new 'Llama Kron combo'? Use this lineup to ruin your opponent!'.

LESSON LEARNT : Even though my Opponent tried to nerf (debuff) my Magic attacks using THADDIUS BROOD *4 - my QUORA was simply too overpowered, and SPIRIT HOARDER also did a great job keeping GOBLIN PSYCHIC *4 alive at the back, so QUORA had a double heal going on. When QUORA's Bloodlust ability started kicking in there was no stopping her. My opponent might have done better if they had a Monster or two with AFFLICTION in their lineup, to Stop QUORA'S Healing.

Jim-Crypto - Brawl Battle Review 2 (Win)

36 Mana - RULESET : Going the Distance (Ranged Monsters only), Healed Out (No healing Abilities)
Summoner Used : FERNHEART *2 (Rented)
MVP : FERNHEART *2 (seen below) who is a must have SUMMONER for 'Going the Distance' Rulesets, allowing you to use Ranged cards in the front row (CLOSE RANGE Ability).

In this battle I have rented 1 Card, the Summoner FERNHEART *2 whose Market price is down quite a lot at $2 per BCX, so probably time to take the plunge a buy him at Level 2 already. I do think this Summoner is underpriced considering how valuable he can be in the Close Range Ruleset!

THE FIGHT : As mentioned, in this battle my MVP was FERNHEART who is indispensable for 'Close Range' battles where only Monsters with Ranged attacks can be used in your lineup. I use FERHEART in many League matches and he almost always wins the battle for me. ULOTH DHAMPIR'S Stun Ability was also great in stopping some of my opponent's attacks up front.

LESSON LEARNT : My Opponent chose a strong lineup with some very powerful cards attacking, however my CORNELEUS *1 (2nd Row) and ULOTH DHAMPIR *1 (4th Row) were able to Tank through the damage, boosted by Martyr Abilities from FUNGUS FLINGER and VENARI MARKSRAT *2. If my opponent had gone with YODIN ZAKU however, I'm quite certain I would have lost, as the Blast Ability would have worked really well with the strong Ranged attackers in his / her team!

Jim-Crypto - Brawl Battle Review 3 (Loss)

45 Mana - RULESET : Unprotected (No Armor), Stampede (Multiple Trample)
Summoner Used : CONQUEROR JACEK *2 (Rented)
MVP : DRYBONE BARBARIAN (seen below) from my opponent. DRYBONE BARBARIAN'S Enrage Ability is hugely underrated and made short work of my two front row tanks!

In this battle I used a rented Goldfoil CONQUEROR JACEK *2 who usually works really well with the super slow GRUM FLAMEBLADE (Chaos Legion) and CHIMNEY WALLSTOP (Gladiator Card), although in this case +2 Speed was not enough to do the sort of damage needed to take down DRYBONE in the front.

THE FIGHT : This is not an easy battle for me to watch as I got beaten almost single handedly by 2 cards, DRYBONE BARBARIAN and VENARI CRYSTALSMITH. DRYBONE ate up my two front row tanks GRUM FLAMEBLADE (Chaos Legion) and CHIMNEY WALLSTOP (Gladiator Card) who both had no armor to protect them due to the Unprotected Ruleset. VENARI CRYSTALSMITH was able to heal DRYBONE BARBARIAN just enough for him to do such insane damage to my tanks, as DRYBONE'S Enrage Ability gave him 8 Melee attack per hit (after he took damage and Enrage triggered).

LESSON LEARNT : A stronger SNEAK attack at the back would have taken out VENARI CRYSTALSMITH'S Healing Ability earlier on and would have given me a fighting chance of ending DRYBONE BARBARIAN'S massive damage up front, so a level 3 TENYII STRIKER in the 3rd position might have given me the win. Also, having a HEALING Debuffer on the team, such as DOCTOR BLIGHT with his AFFLICTION Ability, might have stopped the front row heal, although AFFLICTION doesn't always trigger so it's an RNG 'luck of the draw' scenario. It wasn't even a close battle and I was beaten convincingly, well played!

THGAMING Guild Brawl Finishes and Rewards

This Brawl week THGaming Brawlers emerged as our highest placed Guild with a 1st place finish! Below you can see the summarized Guild performances and $SPS winnings.

🏆 THGaming Brawlers (1st place) TIER 2 BRAWLS - The guild has won spoils of 56 Crowns in the latest brawl! Also, each fully participating member was awarded 3,150 Merits and 22.87 staked SPS.

🏆 THGaming 1 (8th place) TIER 2 BRAWLS - The guild has won spoils of 15 Crowns in the latest brawl! Also, each fully participating member was awarded 656 Merits and 7.997 staked SPS.

🏆 THGaming 2 (4th place) TIER 1 BRAWLS - The guild has won spoils of 8 Crowns in the latest brawl! Also, each fully participating member was awarded 369 Merits and 7.931 staked SPS.

I'm sure most of you already know that @splinterlands has made Guild Brawls truly profitable and Guild Brawlers now win staked $SPS Tokens for Brawl participation. The amount of $SPS you earn is dependent on your Guild Tier (Arena level), Guild Participation (how many Freys are filled) and how well you actually finish in the Brawl each week.
