Buying my first Terracore Game NFT Crate! Let's see what I got.

Well it's been more than 2 years since I started playing a little TCG game called Splinterlands and my crypto gaming journey has been fraught with many trials and tribulations since then. There have been some great moments along the way, but this awful bear market has not been good to the crypto play-to-earn gaming industry and all of my gaming assets have seen a steady decline, along with all altcoins and #Bitcoin itself, although recent signs have been a lot more positive in the crypto space, with BTC finally making a comeback after the terrible FTX Crash saw us bottom out at around $15500 per $BTC. Let's hope that was the real bottom of this cycle!

Don't get me wrong, I'm way up in profits and have actually taken out a lot more than I put into games, mostly because I got in early enough into Splinterlands BEFORE the game really surged, and I've been able to leverage that investment into many other games and crypto ecosystems, mostly in the 'Hiveosphere' it must be said, but I've also delved into a few $WAX and $MATIC games. Occasionally I come across a crypto game that I enjoy or see potential in, especially if it's just been released (getting in early is always advised) and one such game I recently jumped into is @terracore

(Above) At it's heart, @terracore is an Idle Mining Game that allows you to 'rob' other people of their Mining Stash. The more you upgrade your 'base' the faster you can mine, the harder you are to be attacked and the more powerful you are when attacking other players. Terracore is developed by @crypt0gnome using the Unity Game Engine and obviously coded for $HIVE Crypto integration.

Why I started playing

When I joined the Terracore Discord I instantly noticed a lot of familiar faces who had already started playing; influential Hive investors (and gamers) which led me to believe that the game had a lot of early support. Not wanting to miss out I logged into the Terracore Website using Keychain, spent 20 $HIVE to activate the account and around 20 $HIVE buying $SCRAP (the in-game Token that allows you to level up your base) and now almost every day I play and earn within the game. I've already made back more than I put in and used all of the $SCRAP earned to level up my base, steadily increasing my overall power.

While the $SCRAP price did drop considerably after the first few weeks due to many people getting in early and earning a lot of tokens (then selling them on the open market) @terracore has recently released gaming NFTs that are buyable in the game using 100 $SCRAP (15.5 $HIVE at time of writing), so purchases of $SCRAP are going to be increasing a whole lot, in my opinion.

Opening a Loot Chest

After reading the Terracore Announcement ' Terracore: Devlog #16 - Introducing Terracore NFTs! ' I was pretty excited to see NFT integration into the game and quickly bought one 'Common Loot Chest', as you can see below...

...and got myself a POWER HAMMER (Common), when I opened it. There is a 90% chance of pulling a Common NFT so the chances are likely that you'll need to open quite a few in order to pull an UNCOMMON, RARE, EPIC or LEGENDARY NFT.

Conclusion

While idle Mining games might not be for everybody, these sorts of games are the heart and soul of play-to-earn right now. It is my hope that Terracore continues to develop and becomes more strategy driven in the future, perhaps incorporating a 'proper Base system' where you can upgrade your Town Square, build Structures and train Soldiers. It's still a very early game to get into, releasing into Alpha less than 2 months ago, so if you're looking for something to sink your teeth into it's not too late to throw a bit of $HIVE at the game and see where it goes.

Most importantly, please don't invest any money / crypto that you can't afford to lose. We are still in a Bear Market in my mind and could still be for a long time, so all crypto gamers and investors need to trade safely and invest wisely.
